App St worse than UM??

Post by Catfan2030 » Fri Dec 08, 2006 2:55 pm

Ever since the game against App St i have seen a lot of negativity from the App St fans. Even on AGS fans diss everything Cat fans have to say on there like their opinion has no place. Anybody else think they are becoming worse than the Griz? Personally i am starting to dislike them more and more every day. Opinions?

I think the problem is the message board. It's all about smack talk.

With a few notable exceptions, now that the Cat program has gotten better I don't think Griz fans are that bad anymore. I would take the "becoming" out of your statement above because from what I saw online Appy fans (and it appears UMass fans aren't far behind) are way beyond anything we see from Griz fans(again barring a few notable exceptions).

UMass fans are simply giving many griz fans a taste of what many of them are like themselves.

While this may indeed be true, having been around AGS for a couple years now I know that this isn't something new for UMass fans just because they are playing the Griz, they always seem to show a better than thou attitude whenever it comes to themselves or the A10.

In defense of App fans, bear in mind that those posting on BN, MMB (the God-awful Mountaineer Message Board) and AGS make up very small portion of the overall fan base. I would even go so far as to say that those who are posting complete BS don't make up a majority of overall App posters.

I'd just like to avoid a broad-brush of an entire fanbase based on the actions of a few (dozen?) individuals.

My .02

Fair enough and probably true. I will reclassify my comments as directed at the online fanbases of said schools.

Very little, other than currently the "attitude" being displayed by Appy fans on message boards is largely directed at the Cats. Besides the board has been dead the last couple days and we aren't near as strict about moving these types of things when things are slower, but I'll move it over to the College boards.

I've two experiences that are somewhat embarrassing to me now. Twice I wore MSU hats and shirts to Fizzlie games and both times allowed a couple of dipsh-ts get under my skin and both times they were in the national championship game.

While an assistant coach, I sat on the GSU side to watch my kids play in 2000 while the head coach sat on the dUMb side because his son was a Furman quarterback. 2001 we sat on opposite sides again for obvious reasons. I've never been around any Ape State fans who were obnoxious but I suppose after we played them and I spend Christmas in the South this year, I'll get a little crap. I'll just view it as good natured b.s. face to face from them but I've got to admit, there's several posters from the dUMb school that frequent this board that I somehow manage to scroll right through their condescending or insulting posts.
