From what I saw, the 2 pt conversion we called was well blocked and would have easily succeeded if the throw hadn't been off. I agree, great job by Cramsey. I've never seen so many wide open receivers down the field - either EWU has the worst secondary in the country or those were some great play calls as a change of pace from the run heavy offense.CatBlitz wrote:Other than the 2 pt conversion I'd say it was a brilliantly called game. Kudos to Cramsey today.bobcat92 wrote:You can't say the coaching staff played it conservative in this game.

I just wish this one had been televised.....Thought it was a great game. The offense played fast and there were some great calls.....

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

I for one think Shawn Johnson had a huge day but I would like to see Newell or knight inside the ten. They run more downhill and don't tend to get the momentum killing neg yards. That's knit picking because our guys played a hell of a game and I think I heard Johnson went over 370 total yards which is insane he just isn't a short yardage specialist and think the coaches should try the bigger backs in short yardage. Knit picking and don't think you can blame the loss on anyone but I think you could credit the game to forte on ewu he was unstoppableMSU01 wrote:I'd be curious to know why you said this. This is absolutely the least upset I have ever been after a Bobcat loss. Two great teams went at it and one made a hell of a gutsy play at the end to win it. Wouldn't be surprised if we see Eastern again later in the year, unfortunately it probably won't be in Bozeman. Go Bobcats! After this I wouldn't particularly want to be a UND Whioux player next Saturday...

Amazing game, but now I'm sick to my stomach. Any ideas what happens to the rankings?

I wonder if the fact that both Knight and Newell turned the ball over in the first half had something to do with the personnel. Shawn Johnson had a hell of a game - last week I thought he was MSU's fourth best running back...not anymore!catgrad05 wrote:I for one think Shawn Johnson had a huge day but I would like to see Newell or knight inside the ten. I think when we went for two at the beginning, it said "VA, we are going full throttle, try to keep up....." He was a little off for most of the game. I think it worked. If we had made it, it would have been the call of the decade (now that we know the score).

Was personally thinking this as well. The Knight Train has 7 TDs on the year, all inside the 10 I believe. The man is an absolute horse when he gets going north south that it's nearly impossible to stop him behind the line. Would have liked to have seen him get it more in the short yardage situations and inside the 10 but we had our chances to win that one.catgrad05 wrote:I for one think Shawn Johnson had a huge day but I would like to see Newell or knight inside the ten. Re: Official MSU Bobcat- EWU game thread
Espn stats says Johnson had 150 rushing and 62 receiving huge game for him. Like I said nitpicking cause he is our most explosive back just would like to see knight to continue to get the short yardage stuff I like his straight forward style in close situations. Give SJ the ball when the field is bigger just my two cents on what I would like to see for a game or two to see if my theory is correct. (Granted I'm not making the big bucks to make these decisions). And once again not saying this would have changed anything just answering the question earlier on what the coaches could have done different SJ may have been a little gases at the end also he was all over the field and loved itMSU01 wrote:I wonder if the fact that both Knight and Newell turned the ball over in the first half had something to do with the personnel. Re: Official MSU Bobcat- EWU game thread
I've covered 54 'Cat games live now, including 39 wins and today was the single best effort and performance I've seen Montana State give. Don't read into the stats defensively. MSU played excellent situational defense and executed their game-plan incredibly well. They harassed Vernon Adams all day, sacked him three times, hurried him half a dozen other times, picked him off twice and didn't let him get in a rhythm until late. The offense moved the ball at will, hit big plays, short plays, long plays, clutch plays. I've never been much one for thinking a team can achieve a moral victory, but this was the first game, win or loss, I came away not wondering what MSU's players or coaches could have done better. There's plays they could have made, penalties that could have gone another way, a multitude of things, but Montana State performed to almost it's maximum capacity for the talent they have at their disposal this afternoon.
And on top of those 54 Cat games I've covered, I've probably watched 100 more Big Sky football games over the last 20 years and I'll tell you, that was the single most competitive, entertaining Big Sky regular-season football game I've ever watched in person. What an effort by both teams.

I think you put into words what a lot of people have been saying about how even though it was a loss there is no reason to hang heads that was a great game

Re: Official MSU Bobcat- EWU game thread
Sigh.....I went into Saturday thinking if we keep it within 10 we have to consider it a victory. Now I'm thinking "we convert one 4th down, or just keep one of those fumbles and the game is ours." So many chances to win late in the 4th. But if we play like that during conference play we are a lock for playoffs.
On a side note....still laughing at those who thought EWU would handle Arky State

We were fortunate to beat Utah State. Defense pulled that one out for us. Very nice effort against EWU. You all have a better team than you think. MSU will be fine, just gotta keep the faith.RobertCats wrote:Sigh.....I went into Saturday thinking if we keep it within 10 we have to consider it a victory.
