Fall Trip

Post by St George » Tue Jan 30, 2018 4:36 pm

Starting to plan our annual fall trip to Bozeman to watch the Cats, thinking of the September 15 game as the weather might be better for travel etc. The etc. is to include hopefully golf, Old Works on Thursday and a course in or around Bozeman on Friday. I am a hack but some of my buddies can score in the low 80's or better. I am looking for recommendations for the course to play in or around Bozeman.
Thanks in advance.

If you are just looking for public courses you really have only two choices here, Bridger Creek or Cottonwood. Both are good tracks and I enjoy playing both on occasion. In my experience Bridger always seems to be a bit slower as they seem to try and push as many people onto the course as they can but on a Friday you should be in good shape at either. If you belong to a private club at home or have other connections you may be able to play Black Bull, Valley View or Riverside (my personal order of preference) the private courses here in the valley as well. Other options include trying to get onto one of the courses in the Big Sky area that day as well.

If I might make a different type of suggestion, depending on how many guys you have you might consider getting into the Sonny Holland Golf Classic as that Friday the 14th is when it will be held this year. This is the annual 5 man scramble golf tourney that the Bobcat Club puts on every year and it is a lot of fun. Definitely a little more pricey than just playing a round of golf but it's worth it for the people that you get to meet, hear Sonny himself send you out to start your round and raising money for the Bobcat Club. Traditionally it is held at Valley View but we are still in the planning stages for this year so it may move to one of the other courses. Feel free to let me know if you would like any more information about it.
