It pisses me off that many of our area residents portray this woman as an "idiot" simply because she "never went to a 'real' college--only Idaho." Do you know what the east coast thinks of all of us? Really? Go ahead, spew some more east coast stereotypes for all of us to enjoy.

I love how you talk about "the east coast" like it's a single person with a single mindset, and then accuse others of "spewing east coast stereotypes."

Look...nobody cares where Sarah Palin went to college. The reason a lot of us think she's an idiot is because every time she opens her mouth, she makes it abundantly clear that she has no real understanding of whatever topic it is that she's talking about. Call me an elitist if you want to, but I can say to a certainty that I will never vote for a Presidential candidate who:

1) thinks the media's criticism of her attacks on an opponent constitutes a threat to her First Amendment rights;

2) thinks Africa is a single country;

3) cannot name a single Supreme Court case besides Roe v. Wade;

4) makes reference, in an interview, to the nonexistent "Department of Law" in the Executive Branch of the government; or

5) incorrectly describes the Constitutional role of the Vice President when asked what the Vice President does by a third grader.

I could go on, but the point is this: if people think Sarah Palin is an "idiot," that's not the fault of the media, or of "east coast elitists," or whatever other boogeyman you want to blame. She has worked very hard to earn that label.

Ask Gen. McCrystal (Ranger-tabbed, Special Forces-tabbed) how well Obama is prosecuting the war in Afghanistan. He's totally phucking up.

McChrystal after resigning, I strongly support the president's strategy in Afghanistan and am deeply committed to our coalition forces, our partner nations, and the Afghan people.

McChrystal after R.S. article, I have enormous respect and admiration for President Obama and his national security team, and for the civilian leaders and troops fighting this war and I remain committed to ensuring its successful outcome.

Well duh, those are official statements. He had to do that in order to get his full retirement.

Oh, well, you're really making him sound like a great guy. He lied to get his full retirement. That shows a lack of the qualities most Americans (I have to say most, since I assume you don't care about character) like to have in our military.

Haha! The man held the following commands:

* Detachment A, A Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group
* 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment
* 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment
* 75th Ranger Regiment
* Central Command
* Joint Special Operations Command

They don't give those commands to those with questionable character. Those ones are for community organizers. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Yet, based on what you've said, they did in McChrystal's case? You're the one who said he lied to get a full retirement and if so rips off the American taxpayer and that's OK by you and you say even if he did that he has character. Says a lot about you.

Trust me, McChrystal held those commands whether or not I say he did. Believe it. I'm not making it up.

McChrystal had to fall on his sword to get his retirement and calm Obama's feelings. You can think all you want that experience as a community organizer tests mettle the same way serving in a Ranger battalion or SF Group but it really doesn't.

I have to agree with Grizgirl on this-it appears to me you're the one questioning McChrystal's integrity. I'm curious as to what retirement benefits you're claiming he would have lost if he were "honest?"

I must be. Unless you're claiming he traded dropping court martial proceedings for his dishonesty, what benefits was he saving?

The simple fact is McChrystal earned his full retirement and was/is in no danger of losing any benefits.

IMO McChrystal was an excellent officer who meant exaclty what he said when he stated he continued to support Obama and his strategy. I also think It's pretty sad that you feel it necessary to impugn McChrystal's character in order to support your political views.

I'm still trying to figure out -- whether you believe the General was genuine or not -- how the problems in Afghanistan can be laid at Obama's feet. Look, like him or not, he inherited that mess. Had we not wasted 8 years and how many billions of dollars in Iraq, Afghanistan would likely be an entirely different place right now. We lost our chance to do what we needed to with that country about mid-2002.

Here's a suggestion: since you seem to be the online expert on all aspects of strategy and tactics, why don't you beat your ass on down to your local recruiting office and apply for a direct commission? Make combat arms your first choice, but in the meantime, STFU!!!! It's obvious you don't even know who authorizes the deployment of our kids and we have no business being in Russia, China and India's sphere of influence. Also, who authorizes command positions for all Flag Officers?
