http://verbalcommits.com/schools/montana-state according to this site, he is expected to redshirt for the coming season.. but they've been wrong on that site before. Who knows?

He's transferring from a school that is at the same level as MSU and apparently not a grad student so how could he NOT be forced to redshirt this season? Seems interesting that Fish would use his last scholarship on someone who can't play this year?????

Perhaps there is an appeal to the NCAA on some basis. That is the explanation that would make the most sense.

Any news on whether Usman Haruna will be able to play this year for the Bobcats? I'm curious because I just renewed by basketball tickets for at least the 22nd year in a row.

Since there has been deadly silence on this issue I am betting that he is not eligible for next season and will have to sit out. At best I would guess the coaches are appealing something to the NCAA about his eligibility status but that is a long shot. Feel pretty confident that we will not be seeing Haruna in a playing next year, although I would love to be wrong about this.

School just started a few weeks ago, basketball practice should be full steam ahead in a few weeks, Fish is our coach and I will support him this season. Now that does not mean I will not engage in a little helpful arm chair discussion of the team as we go though the season, but on this board he is my coach (as long as no nuclear event happens), Now if you are in Missoula and want to sit down and have a beer/MT Dew and discuss MSU Basketball and Sports frankly give me a call.

According to this wrote-up by MSU he is eligible to play right away.

A host of newcomers enter the season competing for time, as well. Transfers Usman Haruna, a center from East Carolina who the NCAA granted immediate eligibility, junior college forward Ladan Ricketts, and junior college guard Russell Daniels all appear ready to contribute.
