Most "Successful" Transfer to FBS

Post by HelenaCat95 » Thu Apr 18, 2024 6:52 am

Seeing all the portal information got me wondering who the most "successful" transfer from MSU to FBS there has been. Not sure how I would define successful, but let's just say number of games played during the season or 2 that they were with the FBS team. A couple spring to mind...Prukop, Connor Wood, TJ Sessions.
What say you?

In terms of success at their next college I think it's a virtual tie between Connor Wood and TJ Session, both of whom have been (mostly) two-year starters at their new schools.

Forget his name, but there was that safety back in the rob ash days. Went to Arizona or Arizona state and was like 1st team all pac 12.

Glessner has also done very well at ucla.

Depends what you mean by very well. He is used for kickoffs only. They let him try 6 FG's and he only made 2. Plus it can't be fun playing at UCLA. I suspect he has some regrets about transfering.

DeMonte King. Went to ASU. Started but wasn’t all conference.

Very appropriate use of scare quotes.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I used the quotes, because successful is tough to define when you're talking about QBs, RBs, Ol and Dline. Different metrics. So I thought maybe games played would be a good one. Feel free to define it for yourself.

Just kidding around. As in, no one has been successful, so the scare quotes are appropriate. I should’ve been more obvious. Weak attempt at humor by me. My bad. 😣

No worries my man. I just misunderstood.

And really the point of my post is to see if the "grass isn't always greener" when it comes to transferring up from MSU. Seems like the evidence shows that it isn't (when it comes to the football aspect of transferring). This year may be different with Reimer and Valdez.

Put Ifanse on the list now. He did okay at Cal.

Cam Sutton eventually ended up at Fresno State and played in the XFL and was with the Seahawks for a short time but not on the roster that I know of. He didn't have many receptions though at the college or pro level.

I was being sarcastic about glessner. It was a really stupid move, that you could argue cost the cats (and his teammates) their season last year.

IMO I think Valdez will regret his transfer.

Regret or success are relative to what the player was looking for. Glessner for example may have gotten into a graduate program academically while still having chance to kick. Others may have gotten NIL $ sufficient to offset loss in playing time. And some don't fund a home at all.
