MSU has to be ahead of the ppg record. 45+ right now.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Our defense is really holding back Marqui Johnson's efforts to move up the kick return rankings.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Not that it belongs on a list but MSU’s only trailed for 10 minutes, 11 seconds out of 360 minutes this season. A big chunk of that due to a missed Xp vs PSU.

Easy to forget those first 2 choate years we were pretty limited. Beating the griz lessened the sting a bit. Vigen came in to a great team and has elevated us to another level as a program. Pretty impressive.

This seems like a good thread to keep this running list. It's the last 24 games (since Mellott took over at QB) rushing stats:
UT-Martin 60-387
Sam Houston 43-190
SDSU 42-176
NDSU 34-156
McNeese 58-342
Morehead 31-292
Oregon St. 32-168
EWU 60-355
UC-Davis 45-325
Idaho St. 52-255
No. Colo. 44-231
Weber St. 53-347
NAU 49-280
Cal Poly 54-549
UM 66-439
Weber St. 53-388
W&M 42-328
SDSU 34-52
U. Tech 53-404
SDSU 48-211
Stetson 36-342
Weber St. 45-346
PSU 30-313
Cal Poly 35-355

Only five games under 200 yards. Those were to FBS top 25 Oregon State, eventual FCS champion twice, FCS semi-finalist and the previous season national champion and only one was under 150. 14 of 24 over 300. Only held under 200 once in the last 17 games. Currently doing better than at any point during this span with five of last six games over 300. Last two games averaging over 10 yards per carry. Most teams would be ecstatic to average 10 per ^pass^.

updated from Sac State. Big Win!!!

-tommy moved up a couple lists, and went over 2,000 career rushing yards!

-with 328 yards rushing against sac state, at a 6.7 YPC clip, it dropped our season average down to 7.7 YPC... so a bit of a down week for the rushing game, hopefully they can get things back on track next week.

go cats!

well, get this over with... Idaho update. Man, I always hate updating this thing after a loss.

-2 new lists: Fumbles caused season, and Fumbles caused career. Brody Grebe on both.

-Maybe someone should point out to Housewright that the team is averaging 7.5 yards per rush attempt this season..... maybe run it on first down, crazy thought.

Looking forward to getting back on track next weekend! GO CATS!

It’s a great stat but sports boil down to making plays that need to be made over the course of the game. I love stats but they don’t tell the whole story. If you had one 58 yard gain followed by a lost fumble on the next play to go along with runs of 2, 1, -3, 5, 3, 2, you’d have 78 yards on 7 carries. I’m exaggerating for effect to make a point. That’s 11 yards a carry, but it’s empty. MSU has a great run game but that doesn’t mean MSU’s run game has always or will always make plays at key moments just because it’s getting 7.5 ypc. There are things MSU does aside from running to set up its run game. Sometimes they hit those things, sometimes they don’t.

Yeah, I get it…. Was just frustrated like everyone else at the play calling yesterday, specifically passing on first down, which they did like 5 times or so…. Or not running it at the end with 2 timeouts available.

I thought they should’ve ran it down there, too. They had three timeouts. Call a running play and go tell the official ^before the play is run^ that you’re going to call TO on the tackle. Soon as he’s tackled start screaming that you want TO!! Nothing lost as there wasn’t enough time to have needed that TO.

That arena (it doesn’t deserve to be called a stadium) is absolutely hectic with the crowd noise. I was amazed that MSU (and UM for that matter) functioned as well as they did.

updated from NAU

-added Punting Average in a Season top 10 list, with Brendan Hall. He got a lot of crap for the FG issues.... lets make sure to point out how AMAZING he has been at both punting and kickoff duties! huge weapon.

Nice win!!! Go Cats

And looking at the punting stats, Hank Urza was a weapon. With his stats did he get any kind of notice from the NFL/CFL.

Outside the team records, Vigen might be near the top of some BSC charts.

He’s 20-2 in BSC games. Joe Glenn was 20-2. That’s has to be close to the best, if not the best in terms of winning percentage. He’s 31-7 overall. I think Glenn was 34-5.

I don’t expect Vigen to be around long enough to get into the top ten for wins.

Another note-

The team is on pace to have the most rushing yards in a season ever..... and they do not have any player even close to making the individual rushing yards in a season list, which is crazy.

The depth on this team is very impressive. They have all clearly bought into the "team first" mentality.
