Re: 2019 Bobcat Record Watch
@mslacatfan thank you for doing this, easily one of my favorite threads. Not to add to your workload but I did some quick Bryce Sterk research, and if he keeps his current pace he should break into the top 10s for TFL and sacks for a season. He has a good shot to break into the top 10 for career sacks and an outside shot at career TFL.
Edit: Haha.. I guess I should have reread this thread before posting. I see you are keeping an eye on things.

yeah, I am hoping to add the Sterk Stats after this weeks game, when he will be right outside the top 10 (hopefully). I am superstitious about adding the top 10 lists too pre-maturily….

Re: 2019 Bobcat Record Watch
updated from Norfolk... there might be a couple other tidbits that I missed, which I can add later... but I got the main stuff...
Bryce Sterk….
My god! If this guy keeps it up, he is gonna win the Buchanan Award. With 8.5 sacks through 4 games, he already has matched his season total from last year...……………….
also, we just saw one of the greatest team rushing efforts in bobcat history... wow!

Re: 2019 Bobcat Record Watch
MSU has had six 100-yards rushing efforts this year by five different players.
Of those, the RB averaged over 8.0 per carry in five. The one that didn’t had 7.9 and was one yard short or it being 8.0.
Only one has needed more than 13 carries, but that one was 21-167.
Two have needed just 6 and 7 carries.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: 2019 Bobcat Record Watch
you bet, its kinda fun.
I wish the athletic department cared about it even half as much as me... Looking over their "updated" 2019 records list for this year... there are so many things that they missed, not updated, not accurate, typos.... its a complete f'ing joke. How does some random fan (myself) do a better job of tracking these stats then the athletic department?!?!?! its not like it takes a full time job. I spend no more than 5 to 10 minutes per week on this during the season.
one example, which I literally bring up EVERY year. I have sent emails and stuff, and it never gets updated. here is a copy of the list they show for career all purpose yards... anything missing that you can think of?...
All-Purpose Yards, Career
1. 4,453 Shawn Johnson, 2011-14 (1450 rush, 683 rec, 2320 ret)
2. 4,179 Ryan Johnson, 1999-2002 (3646 rush, 471 rec, 62 ret)
3. 3,917 Everett Gilbert, 2009-12 (2182 rush, 386 rec, 399 ret)
4. 3,722 Rob Tesch, 1989-92 (32 rush, 1920 rec, 1770 ret)
5. 3,270 Tony Boddie, 1979-82 (2449 rush, 792 rec, 29 ret)
6. 3,259 Delmar Jones, 1975-78 (2819 rush, -6 rec, 546 ret)
7. 3,205 Steve Kracher, 1972-75 (2979 rush, 40 rec, 186 ret)
8. 3,194 Corey Smith, 2000-03 (18 rush, 1150 rec, 2026 ret)
9. 3,191 Don Hass, 1965-67 (2954 rush, 69 rec, 168 ret)
10. 3,089 David Pandt, 1982-85 (1104 rush, 1275 rec, 710 ret)
Cody Kirk had 3,400 (ish) rushing yards alone... not including receiving or return yards...…….. but he is not on the list? I have brought it up to them every year for like 7 years now (or however long its been since cody played)…..
like I said, one of hundreds of mistakes or inaccuracies.... some of them huge misses, like the example above.

Re: 2019 Bobcat Record Watch
updated from cal poly. go cats!
random note- both Travis Jonsen and Logan Jones are averaging about 100 all purpose yards per game. If they keep up the current pace, they could flirt with cracking the top 10 list for All Purpose yards in a season. Especially Jonsen, I think we will only see his usage on offense increase as the season goes on. He has been VERY impressive this year!

Thanks for doing this, always love this thread.
I thought Sterk did get a sack yesterday? He’d be at 9.5 for the season if he did, right?

Re: 2019 Bobcat Record Watch
When the announced the Sterk sack I think that was Scrempos'. The CP announcers didn't seem to know who anyone else was on defense and Sterk was nearby.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 06, 2019 9:50 amThe box score just has 3 sacks- Callahan O-Reilly (who looked phenomenal), Scrempos and JoJo Henderson. Re: 2019 Bobcat Record Watch
I always hate updating this thing after a loss.... but, updated from the sac state game.
-Troy passed Chad Newell in career TD's and rushing yards. Not too shabby for a linebacker. ha.
-added some Top ten lists for Team rushing and TD's in a season, which this team will be toward the top of by the end of the year (in both lists)
go cats!
