I wonder what the oddsmakers would have for a TT, NDSU match up? I'd guess they'd probably have that one about even.
I just ran a simulation and it had Texas Tech, 35-27. I think NDSU would win. I just don't see how these simulators measure and account for intangibles and qualitative factors. I'd bet in every year NDSU has beaten an FBS school all the simulations had the FBS school winning, except for the years NDSU played the Goofers.

Compughter Ratings Simulator
Well surprise, surprise - they have the Brawl of the Wild at 28-30, MSU wins.....
The griz will not score 28 on our defense this year. I'll take bets now, any takers? Shoot me a PM if interested.

UM will get smoked hard in this years brawl. Typically it's close but there will be a significant point differential, bank it.

Some of our esteemed internet colleagues over at eGriz.com predicted that if the mighty Griz can execute and avoid errors, they have a shot at toppling the Oregon Ducks!

Anyone over here feeling that special kind of stupid, or should we leave the idiocy to the west side of the divide?
Fake news. 99% of Griz fans and egriz are predicting a huge blowout. Not sure how one person‘s idiotic opinion extrapolates to a whole bunch of Griz fans.

I really think Texas Tech is going to try to boat race us. They have a new coach and a new system and they are going to try to excite the fan base. I have no idea what their talent level is and how it compares to us, but based purely on the new coach narrative, I think they are going to try to blow us out of the water and won't be playing many backups.
Which is something that the Cougs did not seem to do. They seemed to play it close to the vest. Or so in my opinion. That is my one worry...
I hate to be "that guy", but actually the Cougs sucked in 2010. It was Paul Wulffs first year. I was at that game and I think he threw everything he had at it. I could see a bit of panic on his face as the clock was running down and the Cats were driving to close the deal. That "untimely" interception and long run back killed us. "If not for that".....as they say. I went home feeling the Cougs were out-played and out-coached. The Cougs managed to go 2-10, beating Oregon State late in the season.
Texas Tech, on the other hand, is a genuine Big 12 contender. This one will definitely be a bigger mountain.
I was talking about the 2017 game... Where we lost 31-0.oh
oh. Of course. Seems as time goes by it's easier to remember what happened last week than what happened yesterday.
What? What happened yesterday? Did I miss something? :)

I’ll take that bet. You say significant, so that’s about what, 14 points? You give me 10 points and I’ll bet you $100 to charity of winners choice.

Here’s the thread you speak of. Like I said 99.9% said no chance in hell. Most are happy to be within 35 pts. I see exactly one poster said Griz by 3 as a joke. Is that who you’re referring to?

I think this spread is very accurate. I think Cats hang in there for the 1st quarter/2nd quarter and then Tech pulls away. Tech will be about the 7th or 8th best team in the Big 12. What FBS team would you like Cats to match up against if you had to choose one in the future? I'd like to see Colorado St. I think we played them in the early to mid 2000's. I'd also like to see Nevada, Boise St., or Hawaii.

Is that the Cats score against TTU or the Griz against Oregon? I'd say the Griz will be lucky to score 10 and hold Oregon under 50.

MATT WELLS (opening statement): Montana State week, opening week. Coming off an 8-5 regard. Second round in the playoffs. Got a lot of starters back. 13 or 14 depending upon how you look at it with the QB's and the linebackers and all that stuff. But Jeff Choate, head coach, got a lot of respect for, known him for long time, he is, in our profession, is one of the higher thought of special teams coordinators in the country. A lot of people respect him and the work that he does in terms of special teams. Just being out west in the last eight years Jeff's got a great reputation. They're very aggressive, very sound, but yet very aggressive. The teams -- to say that him turning around this Montana State program surprises me is not true, it doesn't surprise me one bit. He's a solid coach, he's got a great reputation, good young staff. And this is a good team he's got coming back. On offense they're led by that O line. Experienced, a little younger, they're not all seniors, but very, very experienced. A talented young quarterback and running back. You look at them on defense there's two Washington transfers, one just this year on that D-line, big, strong, young men up front. They're very deep at linebacker. Troy Anderson, first of all, is kind of the modern day hero in my opinion. I mean, a two-way player, guys like -- and I'll say it in the Big-12 country here, it's kind of like the Mountain version of Collin Klein is kind of who he looks like. Big strong, athletic, Collin didn't play linebacker, but this guy can play both ways, they will play him both ways. And then a talented safety, Virginia Tech transfer, a guy that was all-conference kid last year, No. 5, they got a solid team, specialists coming back, it's a very, very good team that's coming in here. We'll have to be very well prepared, we'll have to be very ready for this team, but I look at Montana State and the job that Jeff's done, Coach Choate, and that like I said before, it doesn't surprise me.

This is as good an article as I’ve seen breaking down Texas Tech/Matt Wells.

You’ll notice a couple graphs using S&P+ ratings. S&P+ is fun to look into if you’re a football stats junkie.

MSU - 14 team National Champions (most recent 2011); 52 individual National Champions (most recent 2017).

I think Wells and Yost are fantastic coaches, but we shouldn't forget that they had a top QB in Jordan Love (he's a first round QB imo), and an NFL RB in Darwin Thompson. They had good talent at Utah State.
