MSU's future kicker (Mancini) and punter (Boyle) locked up. Never undervalue quality specialists.

I love the fact that Boyle was a prep QB too (just like Padmos). Having a solid athlete back there is very underrated.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 20, 2019 11:15 amMSU's future kicker (Mancini) and punter (Boyle) locked up. Never undervalue quality specialists.

I hope Padmos can teach those guys to punt rugby style. Padmos and his ability to roll those punts down inside the 20 has been the strength of the Cats special teams the past few years.

Mancini looks good. 85-92 PATs. 17-25 FGs. Those are career. 46/59 kickoffs we’re touchbacks last year.

Re: Boyle & Mancini commit
I agree, and it's something I hope everybody appreciates about his abilities, whether it's rugby style or not. I don't want to go so far to say that he won the Cat-Griz game, but I would say the Cats don't win that game without some of his punts. What I like about that rugby style is that you have your punter (who was a high school quarterback) in motion and a receiving team has to commit at least one guy to spying on him. When they do receive the punt, that's one less guy engaged in blocking. Other than EWU, we hardly saw anybody return any punts. They were just really aggressive and I thought it made that game worse than it could have been.

+1, there were several MSU snubs from All Big-Sky team but Padmos was the worst IMO. He should have easily been 2nd team and in the discussion for 1st. The fact he didn’t even get HM was an absolute travesty.

I agree totally. He has been incredible the past two years. He's the number one if you ask me.

These numbers don’t sound any better than Peppenger. And aren’t the goalposts in high school wider than in college?

Peppenger is gone. Time to move on. The kid has a big leg which is something Peppenger did not. Those numbers are pretty solid for a high school kicker. Plus, we dont know the splits from distances. Maybe his misses were all 45+ yds out. Plus rather than having our eggs in one basket, we have a number of people who can kick. Makes for great competition.

If you are talking about his younger brother Spencer, don't think the coaching staff wants to go through some of the issues they had when Gabe was here. That being said Gabe and Spencer are great kids!!!Cat4LifeHouseDivided wrote: ↑Fri Feb 22, 2019 8:30 amPeppenger is gone. Time to move on. The kid has a big leg which is something Peppenger did not. What part of my post exactly did you interpret me as being depressed that Peppenger left the team? Second, you don't need a big leg to make a field goal over 30 yards, which if my memory serves Peppenger didn't make a single one his last year.Cat4LifeHouseDivided wrote: ↑Fri Feb 22, 2019 8:30 amPeppenger is gone. Mancini also averaged 43 yards per punt. He, along with MSU OL recruit Anthony Session, were 2nd team All-California large school picks. That team is loaded with Mater Dei and St. John Bosco players.

He had a 73-yard kickoff after a safety. Kicked 44 and 30-yard FGs in Spanos Classic.
