Players who stuck out...
As I watched the game, I was impressed with Faanono and Sterk, as well as Tucker Yates. The D-Line by enlarge imposed their will on Idaho as the game marched on. However: 2 Players really caught my eye.
Derek Marks: This kid just has a nose for the ball and a motor that won't stop. He imposes himself on the other team in ways that make me think he needs to start or see more time. Very impressed with Derek.
Shawn Borges: Wow, love this kids intensity and his understanding of the game from the defensive side and his nose for the ball. I LOVED his closing speed on the Idaho sweep in the 3rd quarter with the scat back from Idaho. #1 appeared ready to break the edge and gain a ton of yards but Borges just exploded into the open gap and dropped him for no gain. Great defensive move. Also, his pass protection was "aggressive". He needs more time too...IMO!

A sophomore QB from Dillon. Reminds me of a sophomore from Butte Central a few years ago but a bit more athletic than Paul was and throws a better ball too.

Love all your choices! Great picks! Borges will be all conference by his senior year. I think Fa’anono, Sterk and Yates will all get some recognition this year. Konkol is another that has proven solid. Hard to believe Konkol and Marks both played at Belgrade at the same time! How did any high school score on them?catsrback76 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 14, 2018 9:14 pmAs I watched the game, I was impressed with Faanono and Sterk, as well as Tucker Yates. Also forgot Travis Jonson. What an athlete. We have to get him some more touches. Maybe incorporate a jet sweep or an option with Andersen. I think put in the right position, he can be a game changer similar to how Troy or Chris Murray could affect a game.

Actually, Columbia Falls kicked Belgrade's arse pretty badly...Cataholic wrote: ↑Sun Oct 14, 2018 9:36 pmLove all your choices! Great picks! Borges will be all conference by his senior year. Re: Players who stuck out...
I will grant that Troy has the same exact running mentality of Paul. However, your comment about the two diverges when you say Troy throws a better ball than Paul. Paul was not a gunslinger by any imagination, but he could hit the shorter throws consistently, PLUS he had Delmar in the backfield to compliment his QB-ing. That team was far more complete at every position than this one.
I will also grant that Troy is unmatched in his running, except for Murray. Murray and Troy would be neck and neck, Paul never would have won in a race, but when he saw a defender in front of him, he was, like Troy a heat seeking missile.

Ifanse lowering a shoulder on a LB who met him in the hole. One player went down and had to be aided to walk off the field. The other was Ifanse, who ended up gaining like 15 yards on that play!
Also, Konkol. He was playing out of position (I know he played there last year, but he's been a SS for almost the past calendar year, not easy to just flip that switch I can't imagine) He made some mistakes in the first half, but he was killing it in the second half. Love what Konkol brings to the table and I really enjoy Alleyne, Konkol, and Borges on the field at the same time.

This guy is looking to be an absolute steal for a walk-on. Has "all big sky" written all over him down the road. Reminds me of Kane Ioane- Both the way he plays and looks, ha.

This! I loved seeing Konkel at LB and Borges in the back end. Get TA in there on 3rd and long (pass rush specialist only) and we have some speed to burn for the edges to go with our tough DL.blueandgoldblitz wrote: ↑Mon Oct 15, 2018 11:25 amIfanse lowering a shoulder on a LB who met him in the hole. Re: Players who stuck out...
Add me to the list of those impressed with Marks (he has flashed since his true freshman year) and Borges.
On offense, I really like how McCutcheon is developing, not just on the deep balls either. He had two different 3rd down conversions where he ran a great hitch route, went past the sticks, came back to the ball, caught the ball w/ his hands out in front (not letting the ball get into his body) and neither was a well-thrown ball. The 2nd one was a huge moment in the game if I remember right and the pass was low and behind him, one of the toughest balls for a WR to catch. He looks to me like he is the real deal and not just a one-dimensional deep threat.

I’ve been saying it since his senior year in high school. McCutcheon is a great athlete. I know it’s a long shot, but if the pass game were to get going this week vs. WSU, man, that’d be huge going forward. Confidence booster.

Agree with all of these. Amazing that Ifanse is a true freshman. He's playing like a senior. I also like what our two CBs, TT and GF3, are doing.

Another player that probably has not been talked about as much as he deserves- Alleyne! This guy has been a HUGE addition to the team. 3 INT so far this year, definitely impactful.

Ahhhh good call on Munchie! He was kind of an under the radar transfer and he is proving to be almost impossible to take off the field.

Re: Players who stuck out...
Munchie didn't possess the star power some other recruits had, so he kind of just flew under the radar like RobertCats said. But he is now starting over Washington so clearly the coaches think he's the second best CB on the team.
