predictions for Cats regular season record
I looked back a ways and didn’t find a thread on predicting the Bobcats 2018 regular season record so sorry if one was already started but come one come all make your prediction for the Cats 2018 reg. season record here.
I’m calling us a 9 win 2 loss team. Yes yes I can here every griz fan and far too many Cat fans chanting, “Delusional, unrealistic, blue tinted glasses, drank too much cool-aid, or just plain drunk”. bla bla bla
Well screw everyone of you like that. Make your own prediction and live with it, I’m fine living with mine. I know it’s aggressive and just like a 40 foot putt with the first 20 feet up hill and breaking to the right and the last 20 feet down hill and breaking to the left, there’s an awful lot that can go wrong here and some good luck will be required. It’s not all that likely that I’m going to put it in the cup but I don’t want to leave that putt short or predict my Cats short either. By the way as I see our games right now I don’t have us beating anyone by more than a touchdown and most games by far less, so we dominate no-one but we will be…

Re: predictions for Cats regular season record
I think our schedule is once again a tough one coming out of the gate and we end up at 7-4.
Not enough experience at QB, some early hiccups and missed FG's cost us. We end the year strong and set up for a 9-2 year next year!

Better be at least 7-4.

I was just over at our first opponents fan board https://www.leathernecknation.net/forum ... 41eb52643b and yeah I'd love to have FG kickers like they have returning.catsrback76 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:47 pmI think our schedule is once again a tough one coming out of the gate and we end up at 7-4.

Production Returning from Last Year
PK Sam Crosa went 10 for 10 on FGs with 3 in the 20's, 2 in the 30's, and 5 in the 40's for range. Crosa also was 46 of 49 on XPs.
PK Nathan Erickson had 76 kickoffs with an average of 62.2 yards per, 45 TBs and 1 OB. Erickson also went 2 for 3 on FGs, hitting from 52 and 45 and missing from 43. Additionally, Erickson punted twice with a 31 yards per punt average and 1 inside the 20.
P Adam Fellner punted 60 times with a 38.57 yard average and a long of 62 yards. He had 7 TBs, 12 fair catches, 16 inside the 20, 9 of 50+ yards and 1 blocked.
And because we do have kick/punt return stats, I'll mention those guys as well. All players who returned kicks last year are back this year.
Steve McShane returned 13 punts for an average of 18.46 yards, a long of 81 and 1 TD. He also returned 1 kickoff for 13 yards.
Darron Wheeler returned 27 kickoffs for 22.78 yards each and a long of 42. He also returned one punt for -3 yards.
Clint Ratkovich returned 11 kickoffs for 21.18 yards each, and Justin Fitzpatrick returned 1 kick for 0 yards.

I agree. IF we don't hit that mark, Coach Choate is going to start feeling the heat and deservedly so. I love his... "everything"... but he better score W's this year!

8-3 and I think we destroy the griz at their place. I think Bobby is still Bobby and he will start mouthing off again the week before. Problem is, Choate is not the kind of guy you mouth off to!

Re: predictions for Cats regular season record
I have us losing at SDSU and Weber, and splitting the EWU and Idaho games since both are at home. So 8-3 with a 3rd victory in a row over um and a playoff birth.

I think this is about where we'll be, and i agree, it's time to see all the promise, all the hype, turn out some results. It needs to happen, and i think it will. 7-4 to me would be good, positive progress, and with our SOS prolly puts us in the playoffs. Gotta get 2 of the first 3, or it starts getting harder to get to 7.

Tough schedule. Still VERY young.
5-6 at best. Could be 4-7 if we have a few bad bounces

Best: 8-3
Worst: 6-5
This team is going to grind out wins this year...and some will be ugly.

we SHOULD have been like 7-4 last year. I believe this years team is better, almost across the board. 8-3 is very possible.

Something about our house this year , these Cats love our house and have the attitude and tools to
Defend it , will be hard to beat at home + Wagrizz is our home away from home ( Seasonal Dwelling )
I think we get Eastern at home 9-2 if not then 8-3 . Always an optimist until proven otherwise.

Re: predictions for Cats regular season record
I’m definitely in the cautiously optimistic group. If I had to put money on it I’d say 7-4. If a couple things bounce the Cats way this year it could be 8-3 with a sliver of a chance to go 9-2. It could go the other way and a few breaks don’t go the Cats way and it’s a 6-5 season, but I think that’s the floor.

Re: predictions for Cats regular season record
I think we will be close to last year. I think we have the talent, but I still have not seen the Cats put a full game together yet since Choate has been coach. There needs to be more polish on play calling, specials teams (kicking) and red zone efficiency. I think the D will win a few more close games for us this year, but I also think we lose some close games we should win. I think the Cats will go 6-5. If we beat WIU at home I'll bump it to 7-4. I just hope this defense is as good as everyone has advertised.
NOTE: I have not seen them scrimmage or practice and so I am just going off the reports. The scrimmages it still seems like we are having a lot of breakdowns that we had last year (missed kicks, turnovers in red zone, penalties in red zone, overthrown wide open big play passes). Those type of things will lose you games. I guess we will see how it goes. The WIU home game could be the shot in the arm to get this team on a roll early.

Yeah I hope you are right about defending the home field. You win all your home games (6 wins) you should be in the playoffs!Buckaroo Bonzi wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 8:04 amSomething about our house this year , these Cats love our house and have the attitude and tools to

Re: predictions for Cats regular season record
I am optimistic that the sky is the limit depending on how TA functions at QB, I see improvements in a lot of areas, but you don’t just lose the second leading rusher in the conference without any negative impact.
It’s a little disconcerting that we are still struggling with mistakes at critical moments. Close losses and critical mistakes have been two hallmarks of this team from our first game against Idaho.
I agree that we should be able to pull off 6-5 at a minimum. Season 3, it’s time to produce.
