You can either develop him at 3-tech or strong-side end. Just another big, physical kid to add to the dline.

Of all the offers he received, MSU appears to be the last one team that offered. Wonder if he was at one of the individual camps at MSU this summer? Another long, big, and strong DL, exactly the type of athlete Choate is persuing. =D^

Didn’t he sign during the early period!?

Yeah but usually kids can get out of commitments...especially when those pesky military academies come calling. Good luck to Hayden and glad to have another great kid join our armed forces.

Unfortunately, with the new transfer rules, I expect to see some players jump up to FBS after a few years FCS.

Transfer Portal is what it’s being called. Current school doesn’t know about it. McCoy to Texas after enrolling early this winter to USC is an example.

Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

Interesting. I thought a LOI was binding.

Kudos to Choate and crew for letting him out of the LOI, I think they very easily could have denied it.

He could still get a degree at MSU and then go into the military. You don’t have to go to one of the academies to become an officer. This was a bs move on his part.

I'm surprised there aren't any rules against extending offers to kids that have signed a LOI. I don't blame him for following a dream but I don't have to like it.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Hummm. Cut him some slack. FCS or FBS... Yeah, maybe he should have not signed in December, but it is what it is. I also believe he talked to Choate and Choate let him go. Kid is from Colorado and will be close to home. Who knows, if he doesn't like it, he still can drop out and return to MSU. Wouldn't be the first person to not like the military rigorous requirements.

You're right. We own him now. How dare he pursue a unique opportunity prior to the 2nd signing period.

It's not like he's leaving for UNC or CU. It's a military academy. That's the one (really three) school I'm ok with as long as the second signing period hasn't closed and/or he hasn't enrolled at MSU. The bigger issue, which technoCat brings up, is why do the academies get to continue recruiting a player after they've signed?

I’m not mad at him for choosing a military academy over MSU. But decommitting after you’ve given your word is bs. I would say the same thing no matter what school he decommitted to us for.

Yes, it was classy of Choate to let him go. But now it creates a thin spot we thought we had filled. The reason we thought it was filled is because he committed. By extension, that creates additional work for our coaching staff having to fill it again.

Yes, I know it’s all part of the game. I don’t wish bad things for the guy. That doesn’t change it was still a dick move.

He gave more than his word, he gave a legally binding signature.

As I’ve always said, I’d hate to have my livelihood depend on recruiting 18 year olds. It’s a tricky business for sure.
