8th in both polls. That’s about where I thought.

I'm there with you. On my first, initial glance I got a little fired up and defensive, but we have a lot of unknowns this year on offense, especially at QB, RB and WR. We added some big-time transfers on both sides of the ball but unless you follow the program closely I doubt those moves moved the needle much in the eyes of the media outside of Montana. We should be fine on defense, but we still lost Mac and McCabe which are key losses with unproven (although HIGH upside) replacements. I'm assuming that the deadline for these votes to be submitted came before the Murray news as well, wouldn't have surprised me if we ended up a little lower in both polls if that news came out earlier.

This year's race will be a tight one though, I can see scenarios where any of the top 9 teams could finish top 3, should be a fun one!

8th place would be VERY disappointing. This is year 3, it is time the Cats move up and start competing at the top. They can take step 1 by winning all their home games. That is a good start.

Oh I very much agree, I was just stating that it is not surprising to me that the media voted us so lowly because on paper we lose a lot and although we reloaded IMO, a majority of the media outside of MT doesn't see that and our depth from top to bottom. They just see us as having to replace our starting QB, our top 2-3 rushers, top 2 WR, a stud Safety and All-Big Sky LB who may go down as one of the School's best.

In the last 3 years, I felt like for us to beat EWU and NAU we had to play mistake-free football and they had to have a down game for us to win. This year I feel if we play a good game against either, regardless of what they do, we could and should win those games.

8th place sounds pretty accurate to me- considering we are less than 2 months away from the opener and nobody (including the coaches) have any clue who our QB will be, or how that new QB will produce.

With that being said. I think with a QB who can just be "serviceable", the Cats will be toward the top of that list. If the new QB turns out to be an upgrade from what we previously had at QB.... then I would say they will be one of the favorites to win the league.

The Defense is going to be ridiculously good.

Preseason polls are worthless. Besides, the Cats haven’t beaten too many teams with winning records over the past four or five years, so 8th place seems about right. The best place to change that prediction is on the field. Let’s go!

My take from watching Idaho interviews. Petrino is not excited to be in the Big Sky. His players are! it will be interesting to see how they do with this split personality thing. Obviously it's tough on Petrino's ego. I think the players had a great perspective, let's rebuild some rivalries and the fan base.

On another note. I missed Choate is that video available to watch somewhere?

@Long Time Cat If you play the link above that shows the picture with Zach & Alex, Choate is the first part of that video followed by the players.

Are there videos of the other head coaches and players available?
I just looked briefly and can’t find anything like what we have above with Choate, Neale and Wright.

I’m not going to watch all 13, but there a few I’d like to see.

@Catsrgrood looks like the entire coaches interviews are available at http://www.bigskyconf.com/sports/2015/1 ... igSky.aspx . The first interview is with Dan Hawkins w/ UC Davis and it starts at 3:56 of the video. I haven't seen anything regarding the re-play of the players videos as of yet.
