Re: 2018 Stuff
Does anyone still think we're not going to be pretty solid at receiver in 2018? I don't.

I didn’t realize Logan kleinhans was that big/tall. Looks like a pretty solid dude for a true freshman. Pictures can be deceiving, but he looks about the same size as hanser who is like 6’4”.

Re: 2018 Stuff
Barkley was a huge get. Kevin Kassis is due to have a breakout year. Getting Johnny D back will help competition and experienced depth. Lance McCutcheon will need to make the next step on the outside as a true sophomore. Burgess is transition from RB and played sparingly this spring due to injury. Patterson/Steel had big springs but have still yet to play in a game along with Campbell and Hanser. Then you have slew of talented freshman in Koby Duru, Logan Kleinhans, Mark Estes, and Mekhi Metcalf. Overall, it will depend on the development of our QB.

Re: 2018 Stuff
I was impressed with Johnny D the few games he played two years ago. He reminded me a lot of a Wes Welker type, reliable hands, great short area quickness/burst, smart, crisp routes. I hope his knee healed well and he did not lose any of that quickness. I am excited to see him contribute to the WR room this year.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 03, 2018 10:58 amBarkley was a huge get. He will be a WR. May motion some into the backfield but I've been told his primary role will be WR.superbobcat wrote: ↑Fri Jul 06, 2018 1:25 pmI think Barkley will be in the backfield. I don't see his primary role as a WR.

Re: 2018 Stuff
Anyone else get the feeling that this guy is another Mac Bignell/Marc Mariani type player? Small town MT kid that comes in under the radar and absolutely dominates!
Sounds like he is very athletic with good size, just needs to adjust to a higher level of football. Anyway, another one of the many incoming players I am excited to see develop.

Re: 2018 Stuff
I think his biggest adjustment will be the physical game in the big sky. The position he will play at MSU won’t be much different. If he was a linebacker, safety, or receiver, he would have a big adjustment to 11 man. Since he is playing d end or tight end I don’t think the game adjustment will be a huge deal.
If your left, you aren’t right.

Re: 2018 Stuff
Treyton played defensive end for the Montana squad in the Badlands Bowl. The two starters were Jory Choate (Bozeman) and Logan Kolodejchuk (Columbia Falls). In the 1st quarter, Kolodejchuk went down with an ankle injury that held him out for the rest of the game. Treyton stepped in and played nearly every snap on defense the rest of the game. The second time I watched the game through, I only focused on Treyton while watching the defense and here is what I saw:Hi-Line Bobcat wrote: ↑Sun Jul 08, 2018 3:35 pmI think his biggest adjustment will be the physical game in the big sky. - He surprised me with his "pop" at the line of scrimmage. He held his own physically against some big offensive tackles from North Dakota.
- He got into the backfield on several plays that either gave him an opportunity to make a tackle or affect the play overall.
- His technique was solid when basing it off the fact he rarely (if at all) played defensive end in high school.
- His length stood out and was an asset for him the more he got comfortable with game flow.
- For the most part, he kept his head up without losing leverage so he could read the run. However, sometimes he stood up without engaging the offensive lineman and those plays were most of his bad ones.
- When he got double teamed, he got washed out of plays fairly quickly due to a lack of technique and knowledge (pad level, hand placement, body position).
Overall, you can't teach 6'5", 230 lbs. with great athleticism. If he can learn technique as quickly as he did during the week of Badlands Bowl practice, he should be fine at MSU. Treyton exceeded my expectations at a position he may not even play in college (slated to play TE).
