Travis Jonsen (Oregon/Riverside CC) - QB - 6'4", 215 lbs. - Anaheim, CA (Transfer)
Tristan Bailey (Wyoming/Coffeyville CC) - K/P - 6'1", 217 lbs. - Colorado Springs, CO (Transfer)
Tyler Natee (Indiana University) - RB - 6'0", 260 lbs. - Euless, TX (Transfer)
Jory Choate (Bozeman) - LB - 6'2", 195 lbs. - Bozeman, MT
Derryk Snell (Chugiak) - TE - 6'2", 230 lbs. - Eagle River, AK
Justin Cauley (Venice) - RB - 5'11", 205 lbs. - Los Angeles, CA
Lane Sumner (Huntley Project) - RB/SB - 5'8", 180 lbs. - Worden, MT
Ty'Rhae Gibson (Paramount) - CB - 6'1", 165 lbs. - Paramount, CA
Ty'Rese Gibson (Paramount) - CB - 6'1", 175 lbs. - Paramount, CA
Logan Kleinhans (Bozeman) - WR - 6'1", 200 lbs. - Bozeman, MT
Casey Bauman (Nooksack Valley) - QB - 6'5", 215 lbs. - Everson, WA
Kaleb Winterburn (Helena High) - S - 6'1", 195 lbs. - Helena, MT
Mark Estes (Kalispell Glacier) - WR - 6'1", 175 lbs. - Kalispell, MT
Joe McElroy (Missoula Loyola) - TE - 6'5", 250 lbs. - Missoula, MT
Nolan Askelson (Billings Senior) - LB - 6'2", 210 lbs. - Billings, MT
Kids who have signed during the Final Signing Period:
James Williams (Aledo) - DT - 5'10", 295 lbs. - Aledo, TX
Malik Putney (Eastside Catholic) - S - 6'1", 195 lbs. - Sammamish, WA
Seer Deines (Connell) - DT - 6'3", 260 lbs. - Connell, WA
Koby Duru (Bishop Amat) - WR - 6'2", 185 lbs. - La Puente, CA
Sherod White (Heritage) - RB/S - 5'10", 175 lbs. - Menifee, CA
Donny Long (Norco) - OL - 6'4", 280 lbs. - Norco, CA
Treyton Pickering (North Toole County) - TE - 6'6", 220 lbs. - Sunburst, MT
Ryan Barkley (Durango) - OL - 6'5", 265 lbs. - Durango, CO
Blake Allred (Billings Senior) - FB/LB - 6'0", 210 lbs. - Billings, MT
Isaiah Ifanse (Bellevue High) - RB - 5'10", 190 lbs. - Bellevue, WA
Of this list so far who do you see as impact players next year? Who will not redshirt and be contributors? My guess is Bryce Sterk, and Tyler Natee of the transfers. and Isaiah Ifanse or Sherod White. I could also see one of the WR making some noise. Malik Putney will also probably contribute. This coaching staff has definitely brought in some talent and the competition is going to be fun to watch. I don't think that the current starters are going to lay down and just let these guys have their spot either. I am very interested in watching the competition between Collins, Sterk, and Marks, and Fa'Anono. Obviously the QB battle is going to be interesting as well. I see the RB being by committee but there are a lot of talented RB in that room. What do the rest of you think. Any chance Williams plays right away? I think that he will RS unless someone gets injured.

Tyler Natee. A 6' 260# RB who can play QB combined with the OL we'll have in an offense with a Choate attitude........ya I'll say Natee hands down.
With all the RB's that will be on-board I'm guessing Troy Andersen will be a full time LB but we'll see.

Re: Prediction - Who will be impact players next year?
I think Putney gives the bobcats the best chance of a 3 peat at Big Sky Freshman of the year.... I think he is good enough that he could possibly start... I also expect James Williams to be a 4 year player, but he will most likely not be starting next year (unless there is some injuries).
I expect all the transfers to have immediate impact.

One thing is for sure. Regardless of your star rating or where you are on the depth chart. One thing is for sure.......there are no guarantees with this staff. I think it is safe to say you wont start just because you have spent the time in the program. Each and every year the talent will keep coming so work your butt off or be passed over by someone else.

Re: Prediction - Who will be impact players next year?
I'll just look at freshman who I think could make an impact since I think all of the JUCO/Transfer players will have a pretty good chance at the 2-deep at least:
Could play in 2018:
Ty'Rese Gibson, CB
Ty'Rhae Gibson, CB
Malik Putney, DB
Sherod White, RB/ATH
Isaiah Ifanse, RB
Could play after a redshirt year (2019):
Nolan Askleson, LB
Derryk Snell, TE/ATH
Donny Long, G/T
James Williams, DT
Koby Duru, WR
Diamond in the Rough
Lane Sumner, RB
Seer Deines, DT
Treyton Pickering, TE
So many good players in this class - very excited to see where they all end up in the next few years.

You know it’s a great class when you have around 20 players ranked in your Top 3.
MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Other than the transfers I think this is the class that the Cats can finally redshirt just about all the the incoming freshman. It's still a young team, but with a lot of experience. Long term, it would be great to have like 15+ 5th year seniors playing/leading the team.

That’s the dream, to never have to play a true freshman. That being said we need help in the secondary, so I think one of the new guys ends up on the 2 deep. Maybe Duru gets some time as well.topey711 wrote:Other than the transfers I think this is the class that the Cats can finally redshirt just about all the the incoming freshman. Re: Prediction - Who will be impact players next year?
Choate called this class the "Future is now Class" so I can see about 5-7 guys getting playing time this year for sure (Putney/Williams/Ifanse/Duru/Munchie). It's nice to redshirt, but I bet a lot of the guys in this class were told they would get to play right away as well. A lot of these guys look ready now for sure. What a great class.topey711 wrote:Other than the transfers I think this is the class that the Cats can finally redshirt just about all the the incoming freshman. Hearing Choate & Crew talk about Putney...... they are pretty high on this guy. I think he will have a legit chance at starting as a true freshman.

Nobody was told this, but yes I do see your point.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:Choate called this class the "Future is now Class" so I can see about 5-7 guys getting playing time this year for sure (Putney/Williams/Ifanse/Duru/Munchie). Re: Prediction - Who will be impact players next year?
Let me clarify. I bet a lot of them were told they could compete for a starting spot right away (Earned in Spring/Fall Camp). You are right I don't think anything is a given with coach Choate and assistants. They will battle in camp.catatac wrote:Nobody was told this, but yes I do see your point.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:Choate called this class the "Future is now Class" so I can see about 5-7 guys getting playing time this year for sure (Putney/Williams/Ifanse/Duru/Munchie). The players that will have the most impact next year are the ones that earn it during fall camp and that can help the team win games............

Mehki Metcalf. You do not sit Eric Metcalf's son. Somebody who will go get a ball to go along with the other long receivers when and if they decide to throw it.
*Remember who his grandfather is also! Terry was as much fun to watch as Gayle Sayers.

Whoever wakes up the earliest...
I think you don't get it. Sleeping in until 6 won't get many people very far in life, especially if they want to play on Sunday.

Re: Prediction - Who will be impact players next year?
Because James Williams was the recruit I was most excited about overall, I'm gonna go with him. He is a human wrecking ball! He may not have all the measurables, thankfully, the larger schools wanted, but that doesn't change his quickness, power, and overall ability to disrupt.
