Bump.... took a few names off the original list of RB's I posted:
mslacatfan wrote:So, looking over the roster and this new class coming in:

Seniors:
-Logan Jones

Soph:
-Tyrell Burgess (true sophomore)
-Anthony Pegues
-RJ Fitzgerald (listed as a FB, true sophomore)
-Tyler Natee (transfer from Indiana)

Freshman:
-Justin Cauley
-Lane Sumner
-Sherod White
-Isaiah Ifanse

Couple observations:
-possible redshirts this year: guessing Sherod, lane, Cauley... maybe Burgess?
-I would not be surprised if Sherod white eventually moves to Safety, but who knows.
-will Pegues stick around.....
-Troy... have to assume he is moving to LB full time at this point...
-I bet Ifanse see's playing time as a true freshman

Gonna be a good competition this spring, and will be interesting to see how the depth chart shakes out next fall.

So yeah- looks like Troy moved to LB. The rumors about Vander were true. And Noah James retired. I also heard someone say that Tyrell Burgess is moving to WR (not sure if that is true or not)... Add's a little bit more clarity to the potential depth chart.

Too bad on Vander, I liked the kid and thought he'd have a big role this year.
Makes sense though, a lot of RB talent was brought in this year, and if the Echols thing is true...

Anyone know where he is (or already did?) transfer to?

Best of luck to him, either way

He hasn't done anything yet. Hope to see him in Bozeman by mid-summer.

Here's what I'm hoping shakes out:

RB Depth Chart
I. Big Bacon
II. Everyone else

And Echols is a memory.
Wow that actually blows my mind. I thought, when healthy, Vander was our most impressive RB last year, right up there with Anderson. Good burst, breaks arm tackles and very good pad level and vision. He is also an excellent receiver out of the backfield. I just hope he shakes the injury bug.

I said it in the other signing day thread, but Ifanse is a next level talent and would be in Pac-12 if he was a little bigger. White is no slouch either but I see him more of a gadget back/3rd down type then someone toting the ball between the tackles.

When or if healthy. 270 yards last season. Won't make the 2 deep.
Wait... I said he wouldn't make the two deep. Now transferring.

With these departures, it seems the RB group got really small outside of the two probable fullbacks. Seems like all of the others are in the 180 class or less. Just an observation,, not a knock on the kids.

So where did Vander go? Hard to believe he would leave because the competition was too stiff. A guy like Vander should thrive in such an atmosphere.

Thing to keep in mind here guys, Troy will still get reps at RB. Choate alluded to that in the press conference yesterday. If they need to throw Troy out there for two plays at RB, they can.

Don't forget that if Rovig starts at QB, Murray will be on the field.
Entirely possible to have 3 or 4 QB in backfield at once with Big Bacon back there.

Even if I wasn’t going to play Andersen I’d say I was. Makes other DCs spend time preparing. I’d love to know MSU’s offensive stats with Andersen lined up vs with him not lined up.

Yes. A healthy Murray will be at a minimum a 1000 yard contributor next year. It really won't matter is he's the starting QB or not.

I had high hopes for Vander, but it appeared that his toughness and intensity was a little less than what was needed at this level. I hope he can find the right situation and earn a degree, that is the most important thing for him. I have a feeling Pegus is going to step up!

Shouldn’t Blake Alred be on the freshman list?
