But how many of those star players were zero star players until the Cats offered?iaafan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 2:12 pmI do reference the star ratings, but I don’t assume they’re going to be perfect. From 2016-18 MSU signed 42 star rated players of those 19 are currently making significant contributions. During that same period MSU has signed 55 no star rating players and 11 are currently making significant contributions. That’s 45% to 20%. So it’s difficult for me to just say star ratings don’t matter. It isn’t a be-all, end-all factor, but it does give some indication.

I’m not sure what all goes into these ratings and maybe you’re just kidding, but I don’t think anyone gets moved from a zero star to a two star because a FCS team offers them. I don’t recall anyone committing to MSU and then improving their rating.CelticCat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 4:06 pmBut how many of those star players were zero star players until the Cats offered?iaafan wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 2:12 pmI do reference the star ratings, but I don’t assume they’re going to be perfect. I once heard that the definition of a celebrity is somebody that is famous for being famous. I think the same kind of evaluation goes into the star ratings.

It happened with OG Donny Long last year. Jumped from a zero star to a three star in one day in January 2018. Same thing happened with Griz DT Randy Rodriguez when he signed back in 2016. I was doing a check daily to see if 247Sports had updated their FCS team rankings. I noticed the changes from one day to the next.Grizaddict wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 9:54 amGo back one page and see what Vim says. Re: 2019 MSU Recruiting (30 Signees)
So 247 saw that Long committed to MSU and he became a 3-star because of that? Donny Long said he’s going to Montana State and 247 decided, based on that, that they should bump him to a 3-star. Got it. Thanks! Yes, it really does happen regularly.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 11:06 amIt happened with OG Donny Long last year. They must’ve saw MSU and thought it was Michigan State.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 11:48 amSo 247 saw that Long committed to MSU and he became a 3-star because of that? Hayden Nease was at a JC last year, Ventura College, listed as a 6'2 225 lb running back who looks like he was also a WR in high school.
Not sure what he would do at MSU?

He has a linebackers size, so move him there.
