Re: BOOM X2 !!
I believe this is OL Donny Long from Norco, CA and DT James Williams of Aledo, TX (he is back on board after his visit).
Edited: Not James Williams but DE Pierce DeVaughn of Plano, Texas (area code: 972). I think Pierce was one of the unconfirmed visits last weekend as Donny Long and Pierce started following each other on Twitter while on the visit.
Anyway, Pierce is the pass-rushing prospect this class desperately needed. Great job by the coaches on finding him. Pierce is a 6'4", 235 lb. DE who is long and athletic. He beats offensive tackles with his length and goes all out every play. Per Rivals and 247Sports, he is a 2-star prospect with offers from Army and Northern Colorado and interest from Baylor and North Texas. Here is his hudl:

Re: BOOM X2 !!
Donny Long is in. His twitter profile says he committed.
Long is one of the best lineman we've recruited on a while. Probably the best interior lineman since Flynn. Kid can pull, and finish. Has a false step sometimes, needs to work on flexibility and pad level, but he's really good. Redshirt him, get him to 300 lbs and I bet he starts.
In two years we could have:
Brott/McKnight or Long/Redd/Tuiasopopo/Lewis-Kidd
Then you have Wood, Hatten, one of McKnight/Long, and Jake Sessions as backups. I mean, our 2nd string OL (provided they all stay) could start at most Big Sky schools. Really exciting.

Re: BOOM X2 !!
Talked to James Williams...it's not him. He remains uncommitted. He also has a 817 area code, not the 972 for Dallas.

Re: BOOM X2 !!
Glad to see the coaches this excited about recruits for the trenches!!!
To me that has been the area that seemed the quietest this recruiting season.
Honestly I was worried, whether I should've been or not.

If you're looking for someone with a little authority, I'm your man. I have as little as anyone!

Not James Williams who I still feel is back on board but probably going to take one last visit. The only other kid we've offered around that area code is DE Pierce DeVaughn of Plano, Texas (area code: 972). I think Pierce was one of the unconfirmed visits last weekend as Donny Long and Pierce started following each other on Twitter while on the visit. Hout, Choate, and Denarius were already following him but after the #boom's last night, BJ and Matt Miller have begun to follow him.Hawks86 wrote:Might be Pierce DeVaughn?

Re: Donny Long & one ? commit
Long is the next Flynn, he doesn't let up, play's hard all the way to the whistle. He is already a big dude, which means he doesn't have to wait 4 years to get up to 300. Welcome to MSU!

Long’s video is great and he comes in with one of the best résumés I’ve ever seen.

Pierce looks really, really raw. He appears to be athletic, but he's consistently one of the last guys off the line. Some times that's because he's stunting and it's required, but usually not. He needs to learn how to get off the ball well. He needs to learn how to use his hands, really lacking there. With that said, great length, pretty good athleticism, good motor, good size. This kid will need a redshirt plus some before he contributes, which is just fine. He's pretty raw. It's a good pickup. He could become very good.

Re: BOOM X2 !!
Yeah definitely beats kids with his length and just overall raw athleticism instead of speed. But we need more kids like this in the system to develop.bobcat99 wrote:My uninformed take:VimSince03 wrote:Not James Williams who I still feel is back on board but probably going to take one last visit.
