Gotta be a significant pay cut for Cole.

He's an older coach and did Quality Control work for Northwestern last season. Has 26 years of experience and significant FBS experience.

https://twitter.com/pschweds/status/953729856428130304 I love the decision to have Matt as recruiting coordinator. He has been awesome on the recruiting trail since he joined the staff. In my opinion, the perfect coach to take over at the position.

so he is a former Griz coach that has a son named Bobby?

INTERESTING.

Honestly he seems like he knows what he is doing with the passing game, so I hope he helps the players and helps McGhee mature as a coach. - Not a slam at all on McGhee, just any extra help he can learn from as he continues in his career.

McGhee is still the QB's coach. Passing game coordinator works with the entire offense.

I think this is a very good addition to the staff. Bob also worked with a very good dual-threat QB in Jordan Lynch of Northern Illinois during their 2013 Orange Bowl season when they lost to Florida State.

McGhee is still the QB's coach. Passing game coordinator works with the entire offense.
So Army is now run game coordinator, RB Coach, and TE coach. I imagine we will see some further reorganization. I'd expect to see Cole to pick up a position or possibly BJ in addition to his special teams coordinator role.

We definitely gain a ton of knowledge when it comes to coordinating an offense, however we probably lose a little bit when it comes to recruiting as well as staff diversity.

Cole’s track record is incredible. Everywhere he’s been he’s built one of the top offenses and passing offenses in the nation. Portland State, UM, Utah State.

You would have to think someone will take TEs and have Armstrong do Run Game Coordinator and RBs

To clarify my initial reaction.....I think this is a fantastic hire! I think we are lucky to have him on board.

New Coach Bob Cole

Sounds to me like Armstrong is still the OC. Coach Cole is the passing game coordinator. This is not unusual. Jason McEndoo was running game coordinator not long ago.

Personally, I would be much more excited if Coach Cole was the OC.

The Cats coaching staff is definitely an interesting spider diagram connecting back to Chris Petersen.

So Armstrong is the OC, TE, and RB coach? That's too much. Way too much. I don't like that at all. I would hope at the very least we hire a good GA who can help with the RB's or TE's.

Cole seems like a very good addition. I do like that part.

I know that FBS teams can have 10 coaches. Is that also true for FCS teams?

I agree. Does not make sense to me either. If Cole is not the OC (which is what I understand to be the case from the announcement) then I think he would be given a position to coach.

Let’s see if there are further clarifications.
