Not just a close call...in Ash's first season in 2007, MSU went into UNC at 5-2 and lost to give UNC its first ever Big Sky win and broke a multi-season losing streak. You're thinking of the 2013 game, when MSU led 27-14 at the half but allowed UNC to go ahead 28-27 in the 4th before McGhee led MSU on a game winning TD drive and the defense held on. Shawn Johnson had a kick return TD in the first half of that game.

Looking back at those old box scores, Cody Kirk certainly enjoyed playing in Greeley. 202 yards and a TD in 2011, 180 yards and 2 TDs in 2013.

Ya that's it, thanks!

When is the last time MSU came back from a 14-point deficit? Did it vs Arkansas State in 1984. Must've done it since.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Lulay vs. Northern Arizona? I don't remember the exact year.

Turns out it was PSU in 2003. Down 17.

You're saying we haven't come back from a 14 point deficit since 2003? I find that hard to believe.

Cats won the game. That's all that matters. ISU will be ready to play this Saturday. Line 'em up and let's kick their tails.

Actually that PSU game was in 2002. But the last one I remember was WSU in 2005.

The last time MSU came back from 14 or more down to win before yesterday was Oct. 9, 2010 against Portland State. They trailed 18-3 after the first quarter but scored 34 unanswered points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, eventually winning 44-31. http://www.espn.com/college-football/ga ... =302820147

Murray is actually getting very close. The reads will get much better with experience. DM needs to work with him hard on release point. Everything is high. He's going to get our receiving corps killed off. Needs to learn to slide in the right situation to prevent himself from getting killed off. Worst of all...running with the ball dangling out like he's in some Hollywood movie...Ball Security. But he has levels of talent like I've never seen in any prior Bobcat QB and is worth being patient for.
PS I Love our Defense!
I agree with everything except that last sentence. I don't love the defense, but considering the injuries there (and compared to 2013-2015 defenses), I'll take it. Still give up way too many 3rd and longs, and Garcia still plays in the back end (every open field tackle is a coin flip with him, it seems).

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

UNC was 4-13 on 3rd down Saturday. 2 of those were 3rd and long's they converted. I don't think it happens as often as we all recall. We just think it does because some of them are inexcusable. UNC had 6 3 and outs, on 12 drives. That's solid defense. 10 of their points can be attributed to a turnover and poor special teams. 2 plays 18 yards, TD, after a Murray INT. After a 56 yard KO return (71 with the personal foul), 4 plays, 9 yards, field goal. UNC threw for 218, 80 of which came on one play. I would say we can love our D. They'd be dominant if they could hold on to picks and get off the field on long 3rd downs more often. The defense has done absolutely nothing to lose us a game this year, not one. They are the only reason we have been in every game, and why we have won 2 of our 3.
