How does Dillon do it? Small Class A school and they have 5 athletes at MSU. I think they also have a couple at UM. Not only the numbers, but guys like Andersen are ready to play in year 1.
They actually had 6!! but Monte Folsom had to retire. Dillon is not quite as impressive as Drummond but definitely up there!
I just checked the Griz roster and no Dillon kids. Surprised me. On a closer look of the roster, the Griz only have 31 Montana kids. Of those 31, 16 are either freshmen or redshirt freshman. You will see attrition in those 16. I guess there is only one true Division 1 Montana team and they play on a campus in Bozeman! Own the state!

Interesting note from Choate on a freshman who could play this year that isn't getting a lot of hype:
Elu (Leota), is a young man who I think is going to have a role for us this year."

“This is an interesting one because there’s the aspect of it of what’s best for the individual and then there’s also what’s best for our program now and in the future,” Choate said. “All of those things are going to go into our discussions and I think it’s good that we’ve had as good a competition as we’ve had. I think it bodes well for our future.”
“One guy that kind of stands out to me in that battle right now is (Kalispell freshman linebacker) Tadan Gilman. He’s got some veteran guys (ahead of him) at linebacker, but man, that guy’s done some great things in the kicking game. It’s still that balance of what’s best for the program and the individual and hopefully we can find that middle ground.”
Some other good stuff in there as well.

That is good stuff. I still think they red shirt Rovig, but if Murray goes down inspite of who travels and is listed as #2...he gets it!

Rovig has been solid day-in and day-out. He could easily end up being the no. 2 and play a couple series at Wazzu.

That's what I hear. I do think that is the active debate between the coaches right now. Rovig was recruited by Choate to be HIS QB for the program and yet Murray has such interesting and unique/elite skills with his feet etc. that he will start. But knowing you have a Ferrari sitting in the garage under wraps even though you're driving a Cobra...doesn't make it so easy to just drive the Cobra. I think the QB decision will reveal Choate's hand on how close he feels we are to competing for titles. IF he feels we are a year away ( which I do ) I think he redshirts him, but... using the analogy of the cars, IF the Cobra gets dinged, don't think he's going with a Ford over the Ferrari! 8)

Interesting article. One minor correction though. I know Helena High played against Bozeman High at Reno H. Sales Stadium in 1981.

Interesting, another holder who can pass and run. :-k Do I sense a fake field goal/xp coming?

If so, I hope it works out better than last year's fake FG.

How is Keaton Anderson doing in camp? I haven't heard much about him yet.

He has not dressed out since Montana State put on pads. He's been walking round just fine so not sure what the issue is. Sometimes, freshmen have a harder time getting medically cleared. Not sure if that's the case but could be a possibility.

Sounds like the defense got shredded today through the air. Not a good sign.

Practices and scrimmages are always a two-edged sword.......for every big play there is a corresponding poor play......by definition it is a 'zero sum' predicament.

However, in this case I think it is fair to say that coming into this season the biggest unanswered question was whether or not the offense (with a new OC) could be multi dimensional, specifically how much improvement would Murray make. So IF Murray has made strides in his ability to become better in the passing game I think that is GREAT news. I am confident that our defense will be able to play at a higher level than last season. We essentially lost LB Fletcher Collins, CB John Walker, & NT Matt Brownlow, which are big losses but we essentially get 8 starters back, so overall IMO we should end up with a pretty salty defense. The fact that the CATS passing game has/is coming together is fantastic news! Even if it is at the expense of the secondary.
GO CATS!
