Bumping it to 11-0. Wazzu just lost its incentive.

After that scrimmage, and the improvement Murray is showing, I'm going with 9-2. I don't see a glaring weakness on this team and I think the entire defense is a strength at all three levels.

If you're going with 9-2, you might as well make it at least 11- 3.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14.

Yeah,  .

Seriously, it's hard to say how the BSC is going to stack up against the other conferences around the country. Aside from maybe EWU, no one has fared very well in playoff games against Southland, CAA and MVFC teams the past six years. BSC is 8-17 (or 6-17 if you take off two vacated wins) vs. CAA, Southland and MVFC teams in that timeframe.

I hope you are right on your 9-2 prediction (and I think there's a fair to good chance you will be). Then even with a first playoff game (after a bye) loss, we would still be a great deal better than where we've been the last couple years - just have to hope for an opponent other than CAA, Southland, or MVFC and then we can even win at least one, eh?

I like your optimism! With last year's schedule, 9-2 might be possible... But the 2017 schedule is way too difficult to predict 9 wins. We could easily start out 0-3 with road games at wazzu and last year's conference winner UND, and a home game against SDSU, a very tough team that lost in the quarters last year.

Then, throw in road games at EWU, and NAU where we never seem to win...

Even if the Cats are vastly improved, with that schedule they still might not do better than 6-5.

catscat: Not ruling it out, but the BSC playoff track record (8-17) the past six years (2011-16; 5-15 the last five) just isn't very good vs. those conferences. I think Choate is building the type of team that wins playoff games ala Bobby Hauck and Craig Bohl, but we shall see.

91catAlum: I think you're very optimistic about how the good the BSC is. Aside Wazzu there isn't another more than likely loss on the schedule. I would call UND and SDSU as 50-50 games. The BSC wasn't strong last year and it will be even weaker this year. UND is probably the strongest of the bunch and MSU lost to them by two points after squandering numerous opportunities to win or at least get into OT. So needless to say I'm not sold on the "tough" schedule line of reasoning.

I'm also factoring in that MSU will be improved on offense and special teams. Considering the close losses we had last year I don't see 9-2 as being out of reach at all.

Bit with the two corners gone I thought that was dropping us down to around .500? And it was going to totally mess up the spring for our players.

Just giving you a hard time. Lol

SDSU is a 50-50 game - the co-champ of the MVFC, the conference that Big Sky teams can't beat? Cool.

Having Luke Daly back booting 50 yard field goals is worth 2 to 3 games over last year by itself. How many more games would we have won last year if his NFL toe would have been available??

lute: that's why I made this a **weekly** season prediction thread. Everything can change in a week. :)

booster: I was talking about the playoffs, not the regular season. The BSC can't beat them in the playoffs very often. With Murray, Kassis and the OL coming along like he has, I like our chances at home vs. SDSU...right now. :)

Missed FGs vs Idaho (41) and SAC (40) may have lost those games.

You guys look like an easy 8-3, maybe 9-2. I really like Murray. I saw him play in your last scrimmage and he's like Prukop, except he's a little faster and comes through in the clutch. My team is in re-build mode, but I think 2018 will be solid. Cat-Griz in Missoula in 2018 will be a goodie!!

This is among my favorite all-time quotes. It's probably been since the late 60's since I heard any griz fan say "wait until the year after this coming season". \:D/

Washington St - L but respectible
SDSU - W
UND - L
Weber - W
PSU - W
EWU - W You all make a good point, so I am changing my prediction. We kick the crap out of EWU and go on a big run! 9-2 Here we come!!! \:D/ =D^ \:D/ =D^
UNC - W
ISU - W
Kennesaw St - W
NAU - W
Dark Pink - BIG WIN

We hold home field this year. Not quite mature enough to be Road Warriors yet, be we keep them close. Our kicking game will win a couple of tight ones for us. I would be thrilled with 9 -2 or 8-3 and barring injury, I think it is possible. I think we see huge growth with Coach Armstrong calling the offensive plays. Again if we stay healthy, the defense begins to dominate after that EWU game and we finish with a BIG HOME GROWN POUNDING OF THE griz.

Why do so many people think EWU is going to be good this year despite losing their head coach and all-NFL-caliber WR corps? And don't tell me it's because they're good every year, because they aren't. They fail make the playoffs about 1 out of every 3 years.

2016: 8-0, 12-2
2015: 5-3, 6-5
2014: 7-1, 11-3
2013: 8-0, 12-3
2012: 7-1, 11-3
2011: 5-3, 6-5
2010: 7-1, 13-2
2009: 6-2, 8-4
2008: 5-3, 6-5

EWU has lost a lot. Outstanding WR's, a HC that was very bright, sly and a great recruiter. BUT, the years of Baldwin's recruiting isn't going to dry up overnight. Eastern is still loaded with talent, ie Gage Grubrud who is a shoe in for the Payton award and is an NFL caliber QB. While I see them not as potent as when Baldwin called the shots, they're still the best team in the BSC IMO. I also believe the BSC has taken a huge tumble over the past 4-5 years and a lot of that has to do with UM not being a perennial power anymore.
