the all around cat/griz!

Post by lutecat » Sat Feb 25, 2017 10:38 pm

With the men's and women's wins tonight we are ahead or won the all-around trophy for cat/griz this year according to Jay Sanderson after the game! Seems like a lot of year left for spring sports for it to be over. Unless there's no mathematical chance for them to win. Either way Good job to all Bobcat teams!

The Brick was sold out for the men's game too. When was the last time that happened?

Sweet. We should bring home at least one if not two of them. Do they ever beat us in tennis?

UM beat MSU 6-1 in men's tennis in Missoula, but the match in Bozeman is the one that counts towards the Brawl of the Wild standings. MSU's women's tennis team appears to be substantially better than UM this year, though they haven't played head to head yet. MSU should get the last (9th) point it needs to clinch the series in women's tennis or if not, then in men's track & field.

Does Rodeo count towards that?

There's the truth, and then there's what's reported in the papers.

No. Just football(2), mens basketball(2-1 per game), same with women's basketball(2), indoor and outdoor track and field(1 each for men and women per season, indoor and outdoor for 4 total), mens and women's cross country (1 each), men's and women's tennis(1 each), women's golf(1) and volley ball (1 per game for 2 total)

Dang that's sad. When was the last time we finished 4th or better in the regular season?

2012-13, MSU finished tied for 4th with UNC. They finished tied for 3rd with UM in 2009-10, the last season MSU had beaten UM before last night.

Yes, UM has a rodeo team and they're pretty good. The NCAA doesn't sanction rodeo.

So how did we do against UM in volleyball last fall? I know that we haven't been very good in VB for awhile now, so I'm guessing that they may have swept us?

OK...thanks. So we are 5-2 against them in the four major team sports. Actually I consider it to be 6-2 because football should count double, since they play once only, and that's the only sport most people care about. Regardless, that has to be the best showing we've had against them in very long time.

Football is already it's own entity. This is more about all the other sports.

Football does count in this and as noted by someone above does indeed count for 2 points while the other team sports count for 2 total points, one for each game home and away. So yes for the brawl of the wild series we have a 6-2 lead just from the major team sports while splitting the 4 points available from cross country and indoor track and field.

MSU clinched this year's Brawl of the Wild series today with a win over UM in women's tennis. They now lead 9-4 with only four points still available. Great job Bobcats!
