Indeed, Happy Birthday to MSU, the gran'daddy of all Montana colleges.

-Established and 1893, it had its first students by February 16, 1893 to be the first operational college in Montana.
-With over 16,000 students it has by far the largest by enrollment with the next closest enrollment under 10,000.

The first and biggest college in Montana.

Not the first college in Montana but the oldest college still in existence. The Montana Collegiate Institute (later the College of Montana) in Deer Lodge was the first college in 1878.

UM had a higher (dual meaning) enrollment for years, so they thought of themselves as big brother. MSU is the older, bigger, much better looking and smarter brother. UM will always have youth on its side.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Good find Dizzle! Thanks for sharing. Common buildings to both pictures are Montana Hall, Traphagen, Romney Gym, Roberts, Linfield, Herrick, Hamilton, and Lewis?? (old nursing building?). That look right to everyone? Oh, and of course the steam plant...

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.
