Re: Alexander to Cal ?
Better to have a coach do well and move up than have to release a coach. Easier to replace since up-and-comers are more apt to be attracted to a staff that is seeing assistants moving up instead of getting canned.
MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

I told you people not to let him out in public.
Honestly I'm just happy we got a year with him. From everything I witnessed he is a fantastic coach and will do big things.
Thanks for the great year GA, and best of luck in the future. I hope you kill it at Cal. Then move on to a better University......like Miami!

Best of luck to Coach Alexander - I'm not the tiniest bit surprised he only stayed at MSU for one year, but he definitely had a positive impact while he was here! It would be cool to see Joey Thomas back at MSU, although I'm sure Choate will bring in someone good no matter which direction he decides to go.

Good luck GA, I'm sure you'll be a great coach for Cal. Stings a bit, but we all knew his time was going to be short lived from the beginning. Like others wished this would have happened two weeks into the future instead of right now, but I get it. Wilcox is a assembling a great coaching staff in hopes it will help his recruiting on the final push, I'm sure it will.
I hope all our current recruits stick with us, Choate's got a great vision for Bobcat football. Getting JT back would definitely ease the sting of this.

Re: Alexander to Cal ?
This is a huge bummer. Was hoping we'd get more than one year with him. GA was the most talented positional coach we've ever had, and that's why I'm optimistic. Choate did a great job getting and keeping GA here. He will find another good coach. GA is on to big things, he's the rare coach that's good at coaching/teaching AND recruiting. Usually it's an either/or situation.

Worst case scenario, we move Ioane to DB's and hire another LB coach to assist Gregorak. Since Greg has experience with LB's, you hire an up and coming recruiter.

If that is our "worst case scenario", we are in pretty good shape.bobcat99 wrote:Worst case scenario, we move Ioane to DB's and hire another LB coach to assist Gregorak. Since Greg has experience with LB's, you hire an up and coming recruiter.

Or rather, have Ioane coach safeties, Gregorak coach linebackers and get a young coach to work with corners who has recruiting ability.VimSince03 wrote:If that is our "worst case scenario", we are in pretty good shape.bobcat99 wrote:Worst case scenario, we move Ioane to DB's and hire another LB coach to assist Gregorak. Also, Ty Gregorak has more than experience recruiting linebackers. He is the best linebackers coach in the Big Sky over the last 15 years, no question.

Hope coach A' s short stay was memorably good. Would be happy if he sends young men that Cal doesn't want north to us.

GA came out for the Cat/griz shirtless. Love the passion and swag he brought.

I agree with the approach that Coach Alexander took and that is to coach is put the safeties and corners in the same room in regards to coaching...so everybody understands where their help is coming from.

No. We're gonna go without a DB's coach this year.Common Cat wrote:Are we hiring a new coach to replace GA?
