Vim's All-Ash Team

Post by VimSince03 » Fri Dec 02, 2016 5:43 pm

Didn't want to post this in CelticCat's thread so there wouldn't be any confusion on commentary. It's fun to go back and look. I'm also going to put out an All-Anti-Ash Team, which has been fun to compile thus far. Garrett Marino is the star DE of that list!

Here is my list:

QB

1st Team - Denarius McGhee
2nd Team - Dakota Prukop
Honorable Mention - Jake Bleskin

RB

1st Team - Cody Kirk, Demetrius Crawford
2nd Team - Shawn Johnson
Honorable Mention - Gunnar Brekke, Orenzo Davis

FB

1st Team - Tray Robinson
2nd Team - Chad Newell
Honorable Mention - None

WR

1st Team - Tanner Bleskin, Elvis Akpla, Mitch Griebel
2nd Team - Everett Gilbert, John Ellis, Mitch Herbert
Honorable Mention - Brian Flotkoetter, Justin Paige, Deshaun Thomas (remember how good he was as a true freshman)

TE

1st Team - Beau Sandland
2nd Team - Tiai Salanoa, Steven Foster
Honorable Mention - Lee Perkins, Austin Barth

LT

1st Team - John Weidenaar
2nd Team - Dylan Mahoney
Honorable Mention - None

LG

1st Team - JP Flynn
2nd Team - Kyle Godecke
Honorable Mention - Ben Taunauu

C

1st Team - Shaun Sampson
2nd Team - Joel Horn
Honorable Mention - Matthew Devereux

RG

1st Team - Quinn Catalano
2nd Team - Monte Folsom
Honorable Mention - Stephen Memory (I'll probably take flack for this but Memory wasn't awful for those few games he played during 2011)

RT

1st Team - Steven Foster (twice on the list!)
2nd Team - Alex Eekhoff
Honorable Mention - Mitch Brott

DE (Bandit/Rush)

1st Team - Caleb Schreibeis (played both), Brad Daly
2nd Team - Odin Coe (played both)
Honorable Mention - None (Zach Hutchins almost made it but he was moved around too much)

DE (Strong)

1st Team - John Laidet
2nd Team - Preston Gale (injured too much but when he played, he was definitely talented)
Honorable Mention - Tyrone Fa'anono (has been a bright spot for us on defense his first three years and glad he got a redshirt year this year due to injury)

DT

1st Team - Zach Minter, Taylor Sheridan
2nd Team - Brian Bignell, Jason D'Alba
Honorable Mention - Taylor Dees, Craig Ashworth

WLB

1st Team - Jody Owens, Alex Singleton
2nd Team - Josh Hill (he really was good as a redshirt freshman this year despite his size)
Honorable Mention - Blake Braun

MLB

1st Team - Na'a Moeakiola (when healthy, he was a stud)
2nd Team - Michael Foster (filled in for Na'a admirably his senior season)
Honorable Mention - Fletcher Collins (had an underrated senior season; he hangs onto a few more interceptions, he may have been All-Big Sky; quite a story)

SLB

1st Team - Cole Moore (so consistent)
2nd Team - Mac Bignell
Honorable Mention - Aleksei Grosulak (still remember that Washington State game...only if he would've stayed healthy)

CB

1st Team - Darius Jones, Deonte Flowers
2nd Team - Bryson Keeton
Honorable Mention - Bryce Alley, Sean Gords

S

1st Team - Joel Fuller, Steven Bethley
2nd Team - Robert Marshall, Bryson McCabe
Honorable Mention - Eryon Barnett (when at full health, he had tremendous ball skills...so tragic what happened to him)

K

1st Team - Jason Cunningham
2nd Team - Luke Daly (who will likely not be back with the program)
Honorable Mention - Rory Perez

P

1st Team - Rory Perez
2nd Team - Trevor Bolton
Honorable Mention - Jake Bleskin

Special Teamer

1st Team - Chad Newell
2nd Team - Cody Cleveland
Honorable Mention - Joey Michael

Cole Moore was a really good and underrated football player and was much better in coverage than Mac at Sam. I still remember Cole flying around everywhere against SMU in 2013. That is why I gave him the nod. Obviously Mac is great at sniffing things out in the backfield. It wasn't easy but I went with Cole.

Who was #61 in 2010? That kid played every position on the OL. Also, we had a Polynesian at right guard that year that was just awesome. He broke his leg against EWU.

Edit: #61 Alex Terrien

Lol Stephen Memory.

I remember after he got booted I responded to a post on Craigslist about some headphones. Meet up with the kid selling them, and it ended up being Memory. He was very high. No longer questioned why he wasn't on the team.

/not that he was the only one. Oh the stories from those days.

Big Ben Tauanuu!

Thanks!

Terrien and Tauanuu if they were Ash recruits should be on the list

Ben was in Ash's first recruiting class. Alex was part of Kramer's last class.

Kind of a douchey move to go ahead and post this thread after Celtic researched and authored the original.

I gave mention that it was a fun idea and I posted my own. Mods can move it if they want. I could just delete it and post my all anti ash team.
