Cause if so I probably won't consider your program" you're telling me that's a kid you want?
recruiting = sales

16-18 year old guys are selfish, like it or not, even when they are great guys, good students, and great for our program

I still remember a very aggressive coach calling me every day my sr year in high school, sometimes several times per day, trying to get me to sign with Pacific. I had already committed to MSU. His sales pitch was tempting for sure -- "you will start here next fall. you will be the anchor in our secondary, and the BMOC the moment you walk on campus, everyone will know who you are. you won't even play at those bigger schools for maybe 3 years! do you really want to put in all the work just to ride the pine?? we need you now, much more than they do." If Pacific had been recruiting me as long as UM, Wazzu, CSU and MSU had, I very well might have bought into that sales pitch. Turns out, that coach did land a Montana safety with that sales pitch -- Tim Hauck. Tim only lasted there a year then walked on at UM, and now you know the rest of the story.
That's negative recruiting against others schools. I wouldn't play for that guy. That's just me though. But anyway like everyone is saying it's Choates decision, we all have our opinion and we will see how it unfolds! Good news about Murray. I'm sure he will redshirt :lol: but really can't wait to see how he develops. He was one I think a lot of us were surprised we landed. So far he sounds like a great get!

Ash used to talk about letting recruits know that if they were good enough they would play. HE called it a recruiting necessity to tell kids that, because they want the opportunity to play as soon as possible.

Chris Murray is having a great fall camp. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the number two QB going into fall.

I wouldn't either, but I'd still RS him. If Brugg gets hurt, then play him, but there's no point in having him do mop up duty. That way we get 2-3 years of him starting rather than 1-2.

I like how some of the coaches always say they have a lot of work to do, etc. I'm always leery of someone who always says everything is going well. I know I've heard Gregorak say that several times. Choate said you never really arrive. That mentality keeps everyone working.

I'm sure I read this but I can't remember if the time changed. When is the scrimmage Friday?

Sounds like defense is having a good day at camp today. Murray making noise again.

The Bobcats’ second scrimmage is scheduled for Friday. It will be open to fans and media, which Choate said will raise the stakes further.

Couple encouraging quotes from Choate from the MSU report:
Citing the defense specifically, Choate said he can see the fundamentals and techniques taught through the 15 spring practices and the first 14 fall sessions taking hold. “I really think the discipline of sticking to the same things with the guys up front defensively, you can start to see the carryover in terms of their base technique, their hand placement, their eye placement, where their footwork needs to be,” Choate said. “And now they’re seeing the results, so they’re buying in even more. It's like pouring gas on the fire."
“Early in camp you’d like to see the defense be ahead a little bit, but some of the guys we brought in late (in the summer) like Fou (Polataivao) and (Brandon) Hayashi, those are guys we’ve had to rely on a lot in the interior, and their conditioning wasn’t where it needed to be. Now we’re on practice 13 in camp, they’re starting to get their legs underneath them, and you can see what they’re going to bring to the defense. That’s been a real positive.”

Any of you guys here anything about Flynn? Judging from Armstrongs comments in the gazette it sounds more serious than a sprain. He said simething on the lines of the team can't dwell on the Flynn's injury. Hoping for the best, get healed up JP.
