Re: 3-star QB Tucker Rovig commits to MSU
"I came into contact with MSU through (wide receivers) coach (Matt) Miller, who used to play at Boise State," Rovig told HERO Sports after committing this weekend.
Looks like wbtfg was right (see Another Boom? thread). Miller was his main contact. Good job Matt Miller!!

Re: 3-star QB Tucker Rovig commits to MSU
You gotta like it when a kid does this...
"He is already recruiting his future teammates, just a day or two since committing. His prep teammate and good friend Jace Richter is a defensive back who also holds a Montana State offer, so don't be surprised if he eventually lands with his buddy in Bozeman. Also, fellow Idaho natives like linemen Connor Wood, Zach Redd and Brandon Kipper are just a few players Rovig wants to talk to about picking Montana State.
He said the program is an easy sell.
"I want to go to a place where I'm wanted and at Montana State I feel like I am," Rovig said. "I felt no pressure making the decision. My whole family was supportive of it. I went to MSU on June 12 for the camp and totally fell in love with everything in Bozeman. I loved the town, the environment, their football program."

Rovig is the third QB with a 3-star or better rating picked up by MSU in the last six years. (Prukop 3, Bruggman 4)

His HUDL tape is very impressive, I can see why get got a 3-star rating from Rivals. Has great footwork, strong arm and good accuracy. His throwing motion is a somewhat elongated IMO, but that is an easy fix with the right coaching. There is some Pac-12 interest and Mountain West interest as he has been recruited by Washington, Washington State, Oregon State and Boise State (no offers). If he has a great senior season the bigger offers will come, but hopefully him shutting down his recruiting for his senior year and the fact that we showed the most interest the quickest keeps him committed.

That's a great interview and big time exposure in the Boise area.
BTW: Those are some badass high school uniforms.

+1
I was thinking the same thing, great exposure for other potential recruits in that area.
Excited to see what Rovig does his senior year!

The Boise State connection (4 players/coaches) is paying off quickly.

Don't worry. There'll be a lot more players like this coming in to keep your mind off it. This coaching staff is just getting warmed up. Who wouldn't want to play for this group of coaches? A Chris Peterson protege, three former BSU players, the top DC in the BSC, a former P5 guy at OC, Kane, Pitre and two Montana backbone guys.luckyirishguy25 wrote:Great story! Really excited about this kid. Humble yet confident. Well spoken, and obviously a great athlete and QB!!

Tucker from all accounts is the QB of the program going forward. Now, to seal the deal and get all the other pieces put in place! Welcome Tucker to Bobcat Nation!

Re: 3-star QB Tucker Rovig commits to MSU
How does he compare to Chris Murray on HS tape from this year's signing class? It's not quite going to be apples to apples, I realize, since Tucker still hasn't played his senior season.catsrback76 wrote:Tucker from all accounts is the QB of the program going forward.
