Re: Replacement for Peter Fields
What is this a beauty pageant or a search for new AD? I'm confused.VimSince03 wrote: If I had to go with the body of work? Cooper Jones.
If I had to go with my gut feeling on the guy? Kyle Brennan
Best smile? Matt Whisenant
Best look? Christian Spears
1) Brennan
1a) Jones
2) Spears
3) Whisenant
And lets see what happens after today...

Re: Replacement for Peter Fields
I agree, very excited to see him speak tonight. SDSU is doing great things and their facilities are quickly rising to the top of the FCS ranks, very impressive.Bozcat003 wrote:This guy really interests me because he has done this all on the FCS level, at a school VERY similar to MSU. If he can raise however much there, I truthfully think he would do more here. SDSU has been very aggressive in getting new facilities, and it will pay off. SDSU is building (or already has built) a new indoor practice facility to go along with a nice new 19,000 capacity stadium I believe.MSU Toddler wrote:Candidate 5: Leo Costello (South Dakota State)

Yes, don't discount Costello just because he is the only one coming from a non FBS school. SDSU has come along ways in their facilities, and SDSU and MSU are the most similar, and he knows what it takes to compete at this level while also understanding the limitations.

Wow this guy blew away all the others in my humble opinion. He has been successful at everything he's tried , both before his professional career and now during it. I am a big believer in the fact that past success usually points to future success and this guy seems dialed in. His speech solidified all of it for meColter_Nuanez wrote:WATCH: Cooper Jones interviews for Montana State AD vacancy

Re: Replacement for Peter Fields
Not bad, but he communicated with too much jingo jango lingo. I felt like I was listening to sounds bytes linked together from the "Manual on How to Be an AD"! Not that he would be a bad AD, like most have said, we will do well with all 5, but Cooper Jones is in a league of his own IMO. He might not stay long at MSU based on his energies to keep climbing the career ladder, but while he's here, he is going to make it happen.Colter_Nuanez wrote:WATCH: Leon Costello interviews for Montana State AD opening

http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/sp ... user-shareNow that each of the five finalists have interviewed, MSU vice president for administration and finance and search committee chairman Terry Leist said he will relay all of the information to school president Waded Cruzado. The committee will work through the weekend on that front, and while he didn’t have a specific time frame for when Cruzado would make a decision, it’s expected a hire could be finalized early next week.

I would assume they could offer the job anytime. I imagine there will be some contract negotiating. If a candidate accepts, I bet we hear Tuesday maybe Wednesday. Unless the top choice declines and we have to move down the line.

Re: Replacement for Peter Fields
You actually used to see this exact thing happen fairly frequently at big schools. A venerable old coach would string together a couple bad years, the boosters would get impatient. Then, the older coach would get pushed out for a young up-and-comer and end up with the AD job.bobcat99 wrote:We would be a laughingstock if we fired a coach just to hire him as the AD.
It would absolutely be an idiotic idea.
These days, that's not so common.

Mike Bellotti at Oregon obviously wasn't fired, but he was "encouraged" by the Knights and Kilkenny's to move into the AD job so the Ducks didn't lose some formerly unknown OC to another school as head coach.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote:You actually used to see this exact thing happen fairly frequently at big schools. I didn't think personal attacks were allowed around here.
Find me one place where I advocated for Ash for the position, wanted him to have an interview or even brought his name up in the conversation.
Yeah, didn't think so. Nice try. Go play with the little kids. The adults are trying to talk.

Why make these kinds of posts? What do they add to the conversation? Seems very egrizish to meCat_gld wrote:Careful now! "littlegoodiegumshoe" AKA "kittiecop" is going to admonish you.Common Cat wrote:So when does Ash get his interview? Did I miss something?
