Usually a teams most athletic/best player plays QB in HS.
I'm curious, do we have many examples of guys who were high school quarterbacks who came in and excelled at a different position? I think my brain is frozen, as I can't think of anyone beyond this years guys Barth and Folsom.
Brayden Konkol was a QB for Belgrade in High School. Recruited as an athlete and I'm thinking he was always going to play defense here, but was a pretty good QB for the Panthers

Mitch Griebel was a high school quarterback before starting for two seasons at WR for Montana State.

Joel Fuller played high school quarterback and was recruited by Montana as a quarterback before becoming an All-Big Sky safety for Montana State.

Cole Moore was a high school quarterback who started for three years at Sam linebacker at MSU.

Deonte Flowers was a high school quarterback who became a four-year starter at CB for MSU.

Tanner Roderick, Austin Barth, Rick Haluzska, Quinn McQueary (for a brief moment before Dakota Prukop's injury in 2014), Vince DiGillianardo, Jacob Stanton all played QB in high school before switching to other positions at MSU with varying results.

On this year's team Brayden Konkol, Ben Folsom and Wilson Brott are former prep QBs.

Just curious; are the Griebel's an Air Force family? I know Mitch went to the Academy for a while before coming to MSU and I see that Mickey also has an offer from the Academy.

Keaton Anderson was a hard dude to get a hold of during football season. Once Senior had sewed up its championship, we finally touched base.

Good story! I think he has a great chance of coming in and contributing as a true freshman

Wouldn't mind seeing a lockdown CB in the mold of Johnnie Walker, and then perhaps a pass rusher or a gamebreaker receiver.

I was impressed with how well the younger kids did at CB this year, I think we are going to be great at corner next year.

If somehow a pass rush develops/emerges, the CB's will automatically be a lot better! This past season, Walker made it a lot easier for the young kids. Next season will be a big challenge for them. Hopefully they will continue to grow and develop over the winter and through spring practice to fall camp.

I was a big fan of Damian Washington (sp?). I thought he looked excellent for being a freshman. I swear he had like 5 "shoulda been" INT's, several of which would have been pick 6's but he dropped them. Seemed to always be in the right position to make a big play.

Just my opinion, and I'm being a little bit pessimistic, but I don't see any receiver wanting to come to this team. If you were a good receiver looking for a new school, would you want to go to the school that only completed 2 passes in their last game?

It was 1 game. And the only one with just 2 completions.

I think that is a legitimate concern, I have wondered the same thing. Some positives though that you can sell to WR recruits:

1. Murray is young, its not like that is their game plan for him to never pass. They want to develop him as a passer.
2. Other than Herbert.... well just being honest, but our WR corps isn't exactly setting the world on fire. If you are good enough, you could come in and play a ton as a freshman or transfer, maybe even start next year.
3. No matter what position, you can still sell a player on the new coaching staff. players seem to really like them.
4. Academics- No matter what position, the coaches have a HUGE selling point, in that you get to go to MSU! Not only an amazing school/education, but you get to live in Bozeman!....... Speaking of location- I understand that EWU has a great football program, but who the hell would want to go to school and live in Cheney? I would rather stick a fork in my eye than live in that dump.

Enough good players that they compete in the playoffs every year....that is who. Darn it.

He did have a pick-6 but it was called back, I think for encroachment, Just a few plays after he dropped an INT. He'll be a good one, covered some of the best in the Big Sky pretty well this season.

Well, you could just show them new recruit Tucker Rovig's hudl tape. That might help.
