So we lost a few more players who were on scholarships, but have we gotten any additions? VIM or COLTER?JDoub wrote:He's a high school teammate of Sean Hatten, right? Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (28 Commits)
I haven't updated the list with Jackson McCleery, the LB from Mater Dei, and we only have offered Cam Roberson. He will visit within the next month. I haven't added Jackson yet until something official comes from the team (even though he has confirmed he is coming here through twitter). Gardenhire is the only scholarship player on the current list that has been lost out of the 2017 class.

So the retired players and hale don't count yet either? I am thinking we should either have about 5 scholarships or are they headed to priority walk ons?VimSince03 wrote:I haven't updated the list with Jackson McCleery, the LB from Mater Dei, and we only have offered Cam Roberson. Oh...I see what you asked now. I thought you just wanted to know who has departed from the most recent signing class (which was the 2017 class). Yeah I would guess we only have like 2-3 full-scholarship allotments left because some PWO's are going to get "paid" before this fall.Montanabob wrote:So the retired players and hale don't count yet either? Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (29 Commits)
I added Ty Okada and Jackson McCleery to the list of commits. Ty committed over Twitter after signing day but nothing official came from the school. He looks like a fall camp invite to me. Jackson committed late in April but he comes with a ton of accolades and gives us another young linebacker to develop in the middle. I think Jackson is a PWO but with some academic aid.

Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (29 Commits)
Saw an interesting tweet about a possible 2017 recruit (so a kid who would've been part of this signing class).
https://twitter.com/Faoliu_10/status/864680468096008192
The tweet is in regard to Sal Aguilar who is a 6'1", 210 lb. DE/OLB from Mater Dei (same school as Jalen Cole and Jackson McCleery). I'm assuming he would be a preferred walk-on or maybe a half schollie kid. Anyway, his tape is really good as he was First Team All-Trinity League and Mater Dei's defensive MVP, which was a defense that included both Cole and McCleery. He is really quick off the edge and can really bend around the corner. A lot of natural instincts as a pass rusher. Here is his senior tape:

Have we heard anything more about this late scholarship offer for the 2017 class? I believe he was to visit, but did he commit?

Looks like he is still in track season and has also gotten an offer from Weber. His offer might depend on if we sign a transfer like Kittles or Henderson.HelenaCat95 wrote: Have we heard anything more about this late scholarship offer for the 2017 class? Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (29 Commits)
Added JoJo Henderson to the 2017 list and took down Stephen Omorogbe. JoJo is obviously a much needed signing because of the lack of defensive back depth. JoJo's situation is very similar to Bryson McCabe's. Bryson initially signed with South Dakota State out of high school where he redshirted his freshman year. He didn't like the fit so he transferred to a JUCO, played a year, earned his qualifications, and set himself up in a situation where FCS schools were offering him after one year at JUCO. Same thing here with JoJo. Redshirted at Lamar (FCS Southland Conference) his freshman year. Transferred to Snow (a highly competitive JUCO) and garnered FCS offers from Alabama A&M, Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Incarnate Word, North Dakota, Northern Arizona, San Diego, and Stephen F. Austin. We go him up here on a visit, we offered, and he is now a Bobcat. As a player, I definitely see JoJo as better in pass coverage than run support as his tackling technique needs work. But he's a long bodied kid and gives us a big corner to help make up for the loss of Chris Harris and/or Trevon Strong.

Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (29 Commits)
So a little update on Sal Aguilar, the 2017 Mater Dei High School DE/OLB recruit who could possibly be a late addition to the 2017 signing class. Coach Gregork, Coach Taufalele, Coach Miller, & Coach Pitre now all follow him on Twitter with the first three being the latest follows. This usually the means the kid is locked in so we may get some confirmation on this soon. Repeating from my quoted post, Sal was the defensive MVP of Mater Dei's defense which is quite an accolade knowing how good the program is. I'm assuming he went through the cracks because he is a tweener at 6'1", 210 lbs. But to me he is a future pass-rusher and a kid MSU can develop. These are the type of kids that CAN compete in the FCS as pass-rushers.VimSince03 wrote:The tweet is in regard to Sal Aguilar who is a 6'1", 210 lb. Also, Edward Vander (who hasn't actually been confirmed as a transfer because of grades paperwork from his junior college) now lists his location as Bozeman, MT as his current location. He had to finish up one class at Saddleback JC this spring and planned on joining the team for summer workouts. So to me this means he is on schedule.

Sal Aguilar is on the roster for the Summer Classic Softball Game MSU puts on, so looks like a sure thing? He is listed as the 4th string shortstop for the Montana State DefenseVimSince03 wrote:So a little update on Sal Aguilar, the 2017 Mater Dei High School DE/OLB recruit who could possibly be a late addition to the 2017 signing class.
