Check out this kid, he just found out Kiffin isn't going to honor the previous coaching staff's offer.

What a nice class!
8 in state, a couple neighbors in the 16 out of staters.
Very nice balance and definitely one of the best classes in the country.
Great job coaches.

Does MSU have 24 or 23 verbals? It seems like every time someone verbals Colter has one less than the Chronicle and Vim.

Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (24 Verbals)
The day DeNarius McGhee was introduced as QB coach, Jeff Choate said on record Montana State had 19 verbal commitments when all news sources had MSU ad 20. Upon further reporting, sources confirmed Edward Vander will not join the team until after the spring. Have not been able to confirm if he will sign in a week or if he will sign during the spring signing period. Montana State has 23 hard verbal commitments that will sign next week. It could be 24 if Vander signs but I have reported 23 because 23 is certain while the 24th is unconfirmed.VimSince03 wrote:We have 24 verbals.iaafan wrote:Does MSU have 24 or 23 verbals? But since everyone here bashed HERO sports reports last year when they gave the Griz a ton of love, these won't count, correct, and should also be bashed? Or does it work differently?VimSince03 wrote:https://twitter.com/BrianMacWriter/status/824732450848968707 We are going to have several on this list.
Your class looks very good. I just like to bring up hypocrisy once in a while.

Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (24 Verbals)
Are we falling all over ourselves patting ourselves on the back about having the best recruiting class in the nation? Sorry I don't see the hypocrisy. But you on the other hand are like clock work, I was counting the hours it take before you showed up to chastise us about our large recruiting class. And like clockwork you'll have to shake the sand out of your vagina again as you get more defensive than anyone else every time I post anything good, bad, or indifferent. And yes, saw post here the other day that said "we have one of the best classes in the nation'. So yes the pats on the back seem present.luckyirishguy25 wrote:Are we falling all over ourselves patting ourselves on the back about having the best recruiting class in the nation? Just took a quick glance didn't see any Montana kids on there. Did I miss them or did they?

Yeah, none that I saw either. I'm guessing they are just judging the young men that have star ratings. I think those two Florida players that recently comitted to the Cats are pretty good and they aren't listed. I wouldn't put much stock in this stuff, just fun to read.

Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (24 Verbals)
http://herosports.com/news/fcs-recruiti ... ts-big-sky
Where our guys are listed:
47: Chad Kanow - LB
42: Zach Redd - OL
41: Brody McKnight - OL
36: Kyle Rygg - DL
32: Sean Hatten - OL
15: Tucker Rovig - QB
14: Travis Yates - DT
13: Tyrel Thomas - CB
2: Jalen Cole - CB
So obviously we are well represented on the list and we have the most kids in the Top 55. However, I have some issues:
- Don't really see the point of this before signing day. Why not wait until the dust settles and these kids are signed?
- He listed Sean Hatten as a DL for us (he is an offensive tackle).
- I've said this before, I'm glad Hero Sports attempts to do this stuff but he still only uses 247Sports composite rankings when looking at recruits. Why put blinders on? Why not put more stock on tape? I do believe MSU has a very good class...but a strong contingent of both UM and MSU's classes is the Montana kids and its like he's afraid to rank them because they have no stars. You can't tell me with a straight face as an evaluator of talent that Keaton Anderson, Troy Andersen, Braydon Deming, Jaxen Hashley, Tadan Gilman, Matt Rensvold, and several of the other MT products aren't in the Top 55. At least one deserves to be in the list and take your pick.
- Frankly, a lot of the other schools don't get enough credit in this list. I think Cal Poly has a really good class and they have only 2 guys listed.

Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (24 Verbals)
I think the hero list is awesome. Lots of MSU recruits with alot of talent. And alot of them have played at a very high level for high school....some of the toughest leagues in the country. The coaches have done a great job and have offered kids from in state as well as out of state. I think we are in for good things to come. If we want to win you have to get the best you can and they did that.

Ironic that the 'top 55' recruits in Big Sky Conference contain no one from Big Sky Country.

Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (24 Verbals)
I'm not even close to willing to do this, but what I care more about is seeing these lists at the end of their senior years. When that's the case I guarantee there are guys from Montana on it.JDoub wrote:Ironic that the 'top 55' recruits in Big Sky Conference contain no one from Big Sky Country.

Re: 2017 MSU Recruiting (24 Verbals)
I know, I know. Star rating doesn't mean a whole lot, but I'm still curious to know what kind of star rating the Montana players might have from posters who watch a lot of tape and can compare Montana players to the players with 2-3 star ratings. I saw one of the Griz recruits (LB from Capital) from Montana has a 2-star rating. I think he's ranked around 11th on Vim's list. I assume if he's a 2, then all the players ranked ahead of him must be at least a 2. Last year MSU punter Jared Padmos had a 2-star.
