The Redskins had a helluva team for a few years when Theismann was there. Riggins, Charles Mann (wasn't he from Nevada-Reno?), Dexter Manley, Mosely, Art Monk, Darrell Green among others. Roster was loaded with players from what are now FCS teams. 19 FCS and 3 D2/D3 players on that roster, including Mark McGrath from MSU.

MSU - 15 team National Champions (most recent 2021); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Colter, in regards to your last article, it's cliques, not clicks.

Good article though. That Brownlow quote, that was exceptional.

Colter, would it be possible to get an article on who has looked good this spring so far, based on what you've seen? Surprises, talents, weaknesses. I would enjoy that as we're wrapping spring up. Thanks!

We will have articles this week about the MSU secondary, the MSU defensive ends and Byron Hout's first full-time coaching gig, the MSU special teams, Jeff Choate's emphasis on connecting with the past with players like Dane Fletcher and Zach Minter speaking to the team and a general spring drills wrap up. We will also have a podcast breaking down the depth chart with impressions on surprises, strengths and weaknesses so check out skylinesportsmt.com.

That's promising. Makes it sound like the DL isn't going to be as bad as almost everyone thinks.

I for one, think we will make massive strides this year on D. I don't think we'll have the best D in the BSC, but I think we will improve to better than average. Many people seem to think we don't have the talent on D, but I think that's BS. There's not a huge talent gap, it's more a coaching/motivation gap and I think that's the story playing out this spring. However, the D-line, is where we need the most help. We've changed a few guys positions to help (Collins & Ojo), and personally I can't wait to see Collins and Clark eating QB's next season, but DT is very thin after Yates. If we sign a LB and DT this summer, I'll be very happy.

Yes, you could be right. Choate did say that MSU doesn't need an overhaul, just a tune-up. It was a very young, inexperienced group on defense in 2015. Sounds Faanono has made big strides and you'd think the Clark/Collins combo at the other end will be more productive than 2015. They need to keep their noses to the grindstone though, that's for sure.

They will add more in the middle at DT. You can take that to the bank.

And looks like we have our first commitment out of the transfers we brought in this weekend!
