Yeah that was last years list. This list will be updated as soon as AA honors are announced next week.LTown Cat wrote:That's the 2016 listDriscollCat wrote:I could swear I saw a version of this list where we had like 7 of the top 10 recruits plus a bunch more in the top 25. Coaches are on the road and looks like Coach Choate and Hout paid a visit to Mr. Hashley.

Wow....Hout and Choate aren't small, but Hashley dwarfs them and he has a ton of room to grow. I haven't seen him play so I have no idea if he projects better as an OL or DL. It will be interesting to see where he and Louis Kidd end up. Both are gigantic human beings.

Re: Montana Recruits 2017
Choate is big on pad level and both Hashley & Kidd play a little too high for a defensive lineman. In high school they basically just out-muscled their opponent. However, on the offensive side of the ball, these two are like picture-perfect offensive line prospects. Do I still think both Kidd and Hashley can develop as interior defensive lineman? Yes because I think Coach Hout is one of our better coaches and deserves a ton of praise for what he did with a banged up defensive line this year. You can't teach size and these two have it. They also both play mean.wbtfg wrote:Wow....Hout and Choate aren't small, but Hashley dwarfs them and he has a ton of room to grow. Re: Montana Recruits 2017
I would like to see Kidd moved to OT. I think Hadh can play DE and provide stellar run support and move him inside on pass downs. Now if he keeps on growing to say 6'8, then move him to OT. Until then, work on his flexibility so he can get low and bend his hips. If Choate and Hout are as good as I think they are, they can fix his pad level.VimSince03 wrote:Choate is big on pad level and both Hashley & Kidd play a little too high for a defensive lineman. Not sure where Kidd and Hashley will end up, but Choate has said several times he likes length/wing span on defense.
We could have a lineup that includes the 6-6 Kidd, 6-6 Hashley, 6-6 Hadley, 6-4 Ferriter, 6-4 Jobman, 6-4 Brandom, 6-4 Collins, 6-4 LaBoy. Not to mention 6-3 Campbell, 6-3 Benson, 6-3 Finch, 6-2 Harris, 6-2 Folsom, 6-2 McCarthy, 6-2 Martel, 6-2 Fa'anono.

Cool, thanks for keeping this up Vim. It looks like we're doing really well on the top 5, but they have a significant head start on the next 15+.VimSince03 wrote:Yeah that was last years list. Re: Montana Recruits 2017
Like I've said, list will not be the same after AA releases their honors next week. Players will be moving up and down. About 6 of the in-state recruits for the Griz will be moving up a spot on the list. Current Cat recruits are going to stay in the Top 5....because they are almost unanimous Top 5 talents out of this year's class. However, since I'm greedy, I do like a handful of the current Griz recruits. Matthew Rensvold and Braydon Deming are complete studs.DriscollCat wrote:Cool, thanks for keeping this up Vim. Keaton won Eastern AA Conference Defensive MVP this year. 1st Team All-Conference Safety and 2nd Team Wide Receiver. Adds on 10-20 pounds of muscle and this kid will be special.

Went searching for the AA all-conference lists, but no luck. Wondering what Gilman and Hashley got. I see the Glacier linebacker Patrick O'Connell (6-1, 200) was Western AA defensive MVP. I'm guessing Troy Anderson will be first team all state both ways in Class A. MVP?

iaafan: Here is the link for Class A All-State teams - http://missoulian.com/sports/high-schoo ... 692fd.html.iaafan wrote:Went searching for the AA all-conference lists, but no luck. Troy was First Team All-State at QB and First Team All-Conference at QB/FS. He was also the Southwestern A Offensive MVP. Gilman was First Team All-Western AA at QB and Hashley was First Team All-Western AA at OT/DE. All-State has not been announced for AA yet.

Thanks for the link. I see Davis from Skyview had a good year. I would think he might end up at MSU with his brothers having played football and basketball for the Bobcats.

We are indeed recruiting him but expect more bidding wars for Montana kids this year as the Grizzlies now have their full scholarship load back.iaafan wrote:Thanks for the link.
