Sure, some of them could score some points in track, but some of the track athletes could be playing on other teams at MSU, as well. It's not like the track team is a dumpster of kids needing help from the football team. Seriously. If the football team wants to run, go run. When the volleyball ladies want to ski, they don't go Bogart a spot on the alpine team. I don't really mean to sound bitchy, but not everything at MSU needs to be about football. Even though we love it so. Myself included.

I love that you used the word "Bogart"! You are showing your age and.........youthful indiscretion? :)

When I argue football players trying out for track its the throwers, the big explosive athletes that can improve coordination, footwork and explosive movements, as well as the sprinters. You can't argue that learning proper sprinting technique hurts a football skill player. Also, the reps taken in track do not take away from the other athletes, you have a 400 meter track, 8 lanes (5 and 8 on a 200 indoor). And...the football players do not get to get out of football lifts or conditioning, if they do track it is all extra.
Thank you! He is an intelligent, self-driven, motivated student and athlete. I'd like to think I contributed a tiny bit, but I was nothing like him at that age. Nor at this age, come to think of it!

If the football players ran track too, it'd be awkward selling 50/50 tickets in cleats, pads and helmets. :P

I want one of those kids to sell me a winning 50/50 ticket just once!

Those are sweet.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Some players news:
https://twitter.com/SkylineSportsMT/status/724990529566466054 Too bad that injuries halted both of their football careers. Both highly recruited kids out of high school. Injuries suck. Good luck to Zach and Wyatt. Both are on track to graduate.
https://twitter.com/SkylineSportsMT/status/724990922073612288 This one was a little surprising. Sam was a bigger linebacker coming out of high school but I knew he was going to need a few years to develop physically. Helena Capital native Walker Cozzie beat him out for 2nd string reps in the middle this spring. Might be moving closer to home? No idea just a guess. Bringing in Austin Barrette at MLB as a 2016 recruit this season instantly replenishes our future depth at the position. Good luck to Sam in his future endeavors.

Plucker moved to Sam linebacker this spring. Josh Hill actually beat him out.

That surprises me because I didn't really think Plucker would fit anywhere other than at MLB. On the other hand, Josh Hill is a perfect fit for the Sam position. Thanks Colter. In all, the 2015 Montana native recruiting class as a whole had a good spring from what I've heard. Trevon Strong, Mitch Brott, Brayden Konkol, Josh Hill, Walker Cozzie, Logan Jones, Marcus Ferriter, and Brady McChesney all produced.

Thought Choate said he was going to keep Brayden at safety for this year because it won't hurt him to take those reps. But then will likely move him up to Will (my position guess)? Wouldn't be surprised if he is our starting Will linebacker in 2017.

Yep. I jumped the gun a little on that move.
