HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered three years at St. Francis HS ... Started at offensive tackle for coach Jim Bonds ... Helped guide the Golden Knights to three straight playoff appearances, including a 9-3 record as a junior ... Mission League Most Valuable Lineman and a unanimous All-CIF Southern Section Western Division first-team pick as a senior ... Named to the all-league, all-west district and all-underclassman teams as a junior.
PERSONAL: Patrick Carroll was born on July 16, 1993, in La Canada, CA ... The son of Pat and Liz Carroll ... Has one younger brother, John.

What bio are you looking at? Looks like he graduated/will in May?

Is he doing the graduate transfer rule?

To answer both of you, he will be a graduate senior next fall. We needed a little more competition at right tackle and we get it with big Pat. At 6'5", 320 lbs., he will be a welcome addition to our offensive line and offensive tackle depth. Will likely start unless stellar redshirt freshman Mitch Brott beats him out. Another scenario is if Monte Folsom were to come back and take the right guard spot away from Caleb Gillis, Caleb would also compete in at right tackle. And who knows maybe Carroll will take Dylan's spot at LT and move Dylan back to RT. Regardless, our offensive line officially has quality depth at nearly every spot. We are rolling about nine deep right now with guys who could start if called upon.

The bio I clicked on when I searched his name must have been old. Looks like a very good pickup.

Why do you assume he will start? Did he ever play? Up until his senior year, doesn't looked like he played a single down that wasn't on special teams. Unless he started or played in 2015?

"Second on the depth chart at UNLV at LT" vs. "our current Right Tackle situation" is main reason why I think he will have a good chance to start. Regardless, good for depth and competition. We needed another body player who could provide starter quality competition on the offensive line and we got one.CelticCat wrote:Why do you assume he will start? Did he ever play? I really think (and kinda hope) that Carroll is moved inside to RG . . . I think Brott has so much potential and would like to get him out there - I think he is ready.VimSince03 wrote:"Second on the depth chart at UNLV at LT" vs. "our current Right Tackle situation" is main reason why I think he will have a good chance to start. An offensive line of Mahoney, Flynn, Neale, Carroll, Brott seems super stout

Gillis was probably our third best lineman behind Neale and Mahoney this spring. If he doesn't start at RG, we will likely have a good chance at RT.Bozcat003 wrote:I really think (and kinda hope) that Carroll is moved inside to RG . . . Anytime you can get someone that at least fits into your two-deep you should do it if you have scholarship space.VimSince03 wrote:Gillis was probably our third best lineman behind Neale and Mahoney this spring. Starting at UNLV as a grayshirt jump-started his academics. He has his undergrad and will work on Masters at MSU making him our very own version of Prukop.CelticCat wrote:What bio are you looking at? Looks like he graduated/will in May?

Any word on Hale? I figured he'd be here for spring, but perhaps I misread. He's still coming right?

We should see three to four more drop downs or JC's on the team by the time everything is said and done.

good to hear, but if my count is on that would mean 2-3current players will be departing before fall...PHAT CAT wrote:We should see three to four more drop downs or JC's on the team by the time everything is said and done.

Attrition happens...and some players simply don't make the team after spring ball.luckyirishguy25 wrote:good to hear, but if my count is on that would mean 2-3current players will be departing before fall...PHAT CAT wrote:We should see three to four more drop downs or JC's on the team by the time everything is said and done.
