I think if conferences are going to opt out of the playoffs they ought to not be referred to as FCS. I'm just going to call them 1-AA like the old days.

Because SWAC teams seldom advance beyond the first round of the playoffs and have been a "second tier" conference for the past 2 decades or so.

I believe the SoCon team that is going to bite everybody in the rear this year is Mercer. Bobby Lamb has way too much experience in that conference plus he gets both Wofford and Chattanooga at home. Chris Hatcher's team with another year will look like his old teams when he was part of Leach and Mumme...anyway...I don't know how many kids Lamb has who played for his brother in Calhoun, six in a row state champion, but I predict Mercer tears the SoCon up this year. And Samford is going to surprise people with the air raid...for what it's worth.
