MSU's track team (on the men's side at least) isn't that great this year.

Alec Nehring is an absolute freak. Here are some numbers for the future MSU track & field star:

Long Jump - 21', 3.5" (3rd best mark in Class B, 8th best mark in all classes)
Triple Jump - 43', 2" (Best mark in Class B, 9th best mark in all classes)
Shot Put - 59' (Best mark in Class B and all classes by 6 feet)
Discus - 174', 4" (Best mark in Class B and all classes by 3 feet)

I would like to remind everyone that he is doing all this at 6'5", 220 lbs. I understand Dale Kennedy is very excited to get this kid throwing for the Cats...but Alec would make one hell of a tight end or defensive end for the Bobcats. The measurables are all there.

Who was the last duel athlete for track and field and football, Chris Wilson?

I watched Alec play both football and basketball quite a bit this past season. Kid is a very good athlete. He could've went to college on a scorer ship playing football, basketball, or track. With some weight, he could easily be a very good Griz or Bobcat football player.

We have had lots of duel sport athletes that have crossed over from football to track or the other way, but it usually only lasts for the indoor season, as the coaches prefer the players focus to be on spring ball. As far as Alec, he will not be a multi for MSU, kinda why we got him, including the degree he wants that we offer. He was offered by a lot of schools to come play track, and they all wanted him to be a multi, we said come throw for us and you don't have to be a multi, so we got him. Remember, the only jumps you do in the multi's are long jump, high jump and pole vault, and Alec only does one of those. The kid is an all star at everything he does, including academics.

But if this were an NFL Draft scenario, Jacob Hadley would be moving up boards rather quickly based on his measurables. However, I did say he was the best jump-ball receiver out of Montana this year! A 6'6" high jump is ridiculous. Jacob can jump over himself
Looks like Opland did 6'4". Got a couple of really good athletes in those two.
Hold the phone! Opland, who is 6' 200, (not exactly a high jumper build) went 6'4"? Already? That is some crazy athleticism there.
I just read that an 8th grader in Helena, high jumped 6'4". Crazy apologies for going off topic from '16 recruits)

Opland went 6-5.

At 6-4 that 8th grader would be 3rd in AA and 6th in the state. The national record for his age group 13-14 is 6-5.

I watch the Class A-B track meet over Memorial Day weekend. And the young men who are in the recruitment class of 2016 did very well for their school. MSU found some very good athletes. In class B Sean found the podium 4 times for the HJ, JAV, 400, and 200 and in the top ten for 100. Jered found the podium twice for his part in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 and in the top ten for the 400. Class A Kyle found the podium twice for SP, Discus. Jacob also found it 3 times for HJ, LJ, TJ. Can’t wait to see these young men play football at the next level, still can watch them play a few more times before they report to MSU August 5. Class B All-Star game in Billings Friday June 10, 7:00 PM and the East West Shrine Game Saturday July 16, 7:00 Butte. \:D/

Sean and a few others, if I'm correct, will also be playing on June 18th in the Badlands Bowl in Dickinson, ND.

I was there as well and I was surprised with the west kids. Sean was way shorter and thick than I expected and holy hell he can run and jump. I'm telling you guys, if you remember him dunking over that kids head on here, it's way more impressive when you see him in person. He is built like a brick ****** house and I still can't believe that video after seeing him in person. Secondly, Jared will probably be the best athlete we have ever had as a special teams guy. He honestly could play and start at any NAIA school right now as a receiver or defensive back, I was shocked at how athletic he was as well.

I was also proud of my bro for running, barely six months from acl, pcl, and mcl surgery. And he threw the shot put at state, which was only his second time throw it ever, Tech got a good, athletic, and big kid.

Watch the Class B all-star game, and the first time I got to see Sean play, and he really didn't disappoint me he plays hard and fast. He really never was tackled by one single player. It was a team effort for the South. It’s really too bad that these kids have such a short week to get an offense under their belt. You could see it on both sides that offenses were going to struggle. Jake Session is a beast they had him lined up in the backfield a few times as a blocking back, it was fun to see. He really looked like he was having fun playing in the backfield also. Was looking at the roster for the MonDak game it appears that there are 7 2016 MSU recruits there. Looks like I might head to North Dakota.

For those interested, the Badlands Bowl will be broadcast on radio at www.kdix.com and will be live streamed at www.bektel.com/badlandsbowl at 6:00pm on Saturday. www.badlandsbowl.com also has links to both.
