Who was the last Cat to be drafted?
Caught part of the draft last night and it got me thinking (usually a scary thought). Who was the last Bobcat to be selected in the NFL Draft? I remember Mark Fellows back in '84, but has there been anyone since?

Yes, I bet he could play this fall if asked! Give it 16 or so years and there will be another Taylor playing!allcat wrote:Does Taylor still work for the Cats?

Joey Thomas was drafted back in 2004 or 2005... pretty high up too- 3rd or 4th round. He had all the tools to make it in the NFL, just couldn't put it together.... Him and Trumaine Johnson for the Griz might be the 2 best CB's to have ever come out of the big sky...

I don't know where he is at in the hierarchy, but I know he would like to be an AD someday.FTG247365 wrote:Yes, I bet he could play this fall if asked! Give it 16 or so years and there will be another Taylor playing!allcat wrote:Does Taylor still work for the Cats?

What does everyone here think about Singleton's chances today? I know he went on a pre-draft visit to the Bengals, but haven't heard much about him since then. I think it's more likely he ends up signing as an undrafted FA, but it would be great to see him get picked and have a better shot to stick somewhere because of it. Thoughts?

I don't remember us having anyone getting a pre draft visit before so I would think that would be a good sign. However, if I was to put money on it I would say the undrafted FA route even though I think he will have a better pro career than the drafted LB's from over the mountain in the last couple years

I remember watching lulay at the combine, so that should have been 1 or 2 years after Thomas right? Minter also went toa regional combine, I think in Dallas as I recall.catgrad05 wrote:Was Thomas the last Cat to be invited to the combine?

I meant the main "Combine" Combine lol. But yes Minter did go to a regional. I don't remember Lulay going but if he did it would have been after Thomas. Thomas was drafted in 2004 and Lulay was 2006. After a quick goggle search you are correct Lulay was at the 06 combine, he had the quickest short shuttle and top three in three cone, broad jump and vertical for QBs. Forgot how good of an athlete he was

On a side note I see the Bengals drafted an OLB in the third round out of TCU. That can not help Singeltons draft chances with that team. Bummer but you never know

Those of you who looked at the list closely must have noted three Bobcat offensive linemen drafted in 1957. Ron Warzeka, "Big" Bob Butorovich and Ed Ritt. These guys were large even by NFL standards of the day. The other two offensive linemen on that team? Underclassmen, Bobcat Hall-of-Famer Charlie Jackson and freshman, Sonny Holland. You'd have a hard time convincing a Bobcat old timer there was ever a greater offensive line at MSU than this one.Rich K wrote:Here's a Wiki page with a complete list.

Personally, I'm very excited about the 2015 O-line. It has the makings of another great one.
