composite schedule 2016+

Post by Montanabob » Mon Apr 27, 2015 7:40 am

so two quick questions. why haven't they posted the composite schedule for 2016 and beyond? is it because Portland State is uncertain about football future? or is it Idaho's future in the Sunbelt problem (speculation that the sun belt membership may vote idaho out at end of 2015 season and invite liberty) :-k

and why hasn't the NCAA posted attendance numbers for 2014? conspiracy theory I wonder.

2014 NCAA stats/attendance http://stats.ncaa.org/rankings/change_sport_year_div updated after every game is completed.

Third in total attendance and fourth in average? Not bad for an 8-5 team coming off a non-playoff season. I think we lose attendance by having such a shabby east grandstand and people getting turned away or forced into SRO. I think if we had a seating capacity of 20,000 we'd hit that regularly if not weekly.

The attendance report shows that the Sun Belt has 3 of the 10 lowest average attendances (Idaho and New Mexico State are 5th and 4th lowest) and all 11 teams are in the bottom 45 for average FBS attendance. I am not sure they will worry about Idaho's attendance as the conference is pretty weak overall.

The BSC announced the 2012-15 schedules on April 28, 2011...so if they're going to announce it for 2016 and beyond, right about now would fit that time frame. If there's uncertainty about the membership of the conference, it probably doesn't hurt to wait a bit to announce. But I imagine teams like to plan things like travel for road games and 'special' home games such as Homecoming pretty far in advance, so it's probably coming soon.

Weird? UND has a release of their BSC schedule for 2016-'19 from June of last year. I couldn't find anything on the Big Sky website or any other team making this announcement. http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.db ... =209494583

Interesting...perhaps the BSC gave the schedule out to the teams last year to help with future scheduling of non-conference games, but hasn't done a full public release yet for whatever reason. (Insert 'quiet phase' joke here)

Maybe there's a big re-org coming or some teams are leaving. Or the BSC is going defunct.

Sun Belt ends spring meetings looking to add new members and not allowing football only. Mute on Idaho. Watch for it by 1 June ---- last year in Sun Belt for Idaho and last year for football at Portland State...... I hear the train a coming. What does the AD say about this and where is the composite schedule? Why is it that every other team in the BSC except MSU has future FCS and FBS teams scheduled for the non- conference games? ](*,)

I'm pretty sure that we have a FBS game scheduled.

We play Idaho in 2016 and Washington State in 2017.

There was a time when the Cats laid out their future schedules, as they were being constructed, for all to see just like most everyone else does now. If you have time and the mentality of a KGB agent, you can look at each of the 200 plus FCS/FBS teams future schedules and gleen the Bobcat schedule from those. If you do, please feel free to share.

Yes, but remember ODU, GSU, and App have all bolted to FBS, and they all had higher attendance than us typically. Makes our rank look a little bit better than it would have 2-3 years ago.

Interesting tidbit on how MSU would fare for average attendances across FBS conferences:

FBS Conference Attendance

1. Southeastern Conference, 78.018
2. Big Ten, 66,939
3. Big 12, 57,624
4. Pac 12, 52,758
5. ACC, 50,016
6. American Athletic Conference, 29,193
7. Mountain West, 25,147
8. Conference USA, 20,409
9. Sun Belt, 18,904
10. Mid-American, 15,408

We could easily by in the Mountain West if we just went by attendance.

IF we moved up and IF we invested the money (stadium and add sports) we'd fit into the MWC nicely. I hope we do that WHEN the NCAA realigns and produces a playoff for the AAC, MWC, USA, Sun Belt and Mid-American.

Agreed. I don't have the FBS twinkle in my eye, but I'm not against it. But we'd be better off waiting until the entire NCAA landscape settles, there is way too much uncertainty right now.

Interesting that here and other threads complaining that we haven't finished the 2016 schedule.
Montana (FCS): Montana is looking for two home games in 2016. The dates are September 3 and September 17. We are open to paying a guarantee or starting a home and homes series with Montana returning in 2018. If you are interested, please call or email Ryan Martin at 406-243-6926 or ryan.martin@mso.umt.edu.

The Red Raiders have added home games against Missouri State for the 2018 season opener and Montana State for the 2019 season opener as well as a two-game home-and-home setup with Texas-El Paso in 2019 and 2020.

Seems we always find out what our future looks like from our opponents press releases.

I thought UND was going to rekindle the NDSU/UND game? I didn't see it on the UND schedule. Seems odd to me that these two schools aren't forced to play each year. What a missed opportunity.
