Does Ash have the guts to fire Jamie Marshall?

Post by saintcat40 » Sat Nov 29, 2014 6:29 pm

I like Ash and think he has done a good job since he was first hired. However, it is obvious that we need some new life breathed into our defense in order to take the next step. Does Ash have the guts to fire Jamie Marshall?

Hope so...he needs to go. It's almost like MSU didn't even game plan for Zenner. Tackling needs to be reinforced and for GODS SAKE can someone teach the DBs to turn their head around when the ball is in the air?

Colter said earlier that there's a 99% chance that Marshall is back next year. Colter is usually right in stuff like this, so it looks like we're stuck with him another year. Unless we can trick someone else into making him a head coach....any of you good at writing resumes? :D

Speaking of tackling, did anybody else read that the Grizzlies got some new tackling equipment and drills? I can't remember exactly what it was, but they credited their improvement on defense this year in part to it.

Maybe Marshall sticks in Bozeman, but maybe a possibility of a demotion to a position coach. I believe that's what happened under Ash with OC Dale Plossel a few years ago. Eventually Plossel left on his own.

He will stay because the argument will be made that he had 1 bad year. That doesn't hold weight when you have 7 seniors. This off-season defines Ash's legacy.

He coaches the secondary as well.

Colter, would you be able to be the voice of our fans? Tell Ash that many of the fans seem to think that the defensive coordinator seems to be the ceiling on this team, and that you are curious if he thinks changes need to be made.

Well that explains about everything you need to know about our defensive struggles this year.

He won't. Can't bite the hand that feeds him so to speak.

You have an odd view of the role of a journalist. If you want to tell Ash to fire Marshall yourself, the football offices are in the southeast corner of the Fieldhouse.

Dale left because he wanted to be closer to his family and got a HC job at a HS back home.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

Ok. Just going by what he told me.

MSU01, you are right. It isn't Colter's place to be the voice of the fans. However, I think it would be within the role of a journalist to ask some tough questions including ones in reference to obvious consistent underperformance on the defensive side of the ball. Would you agree with that?

Wasn't the "new" philosophy from the beginning of the season to make sure we outscored the other team even if it were like the MSU & EWU game? I seem to remember that from the beginning of the season
