So what are you saying, that UM is Ali and MSU is Frazier?
Ali won gold in the 60 Olympics, Frazier won gold in the 64 Olympics. They both were America's fighters. In their professional careers there was a time that Frazier was the greater and a time when Ali was the greater of the two but that didn't mean that the greater or lesser at any given time was or wasn't america's fighters. So too it is with UM and MSU we are both Montana's team. Each of us have had our times of getting the better of the other on the field but that never gives one team exclusive rights to being Montana's team. To think differently is just selfish arrogance.

Sir, the Trib writer never called the Griz "Montana's Team." The national press never called Ali "America's Fighter." But the Trib writer did make note of the helmet decal and observe that the Griz played last Saturday as if they believed they were Montana's team. You can bet if a national writer has opined after the Thrilla in Manilla that Ali fought as if he were America's Fighter, Smokin' Joe wouldn't have been so insecure or self-conscious as to complain about the sports writers. He was a man.

I made no reference to the trib writer, only an observation of what you wrote. As far as the trib writer goes his "note" that the Griz had the decal was a fact. His " observation" of the Griz play and beliefs was an opinion. Was the story in the op Ed section of the paper or elsewhere?

The whole topic of the post is the analogy by the reporter. It was accurate, not an opinion. Basic reading comprehension skills equip one to discern that the writer did not say the Griz were or are Montana's team. Knowing that Cat fans can read every bit as well as Griz fans, if not better, we thereby can readily conclude the complaints against the Trib are mere whining.
