Re: Cliff Hysell
He brought me back to Bobcat football. I owned a bar and his best friend Frank Ursich sold me beer. Once you got a drink into Cliff he could start to talk to people. He was a defensive guru. I really admired him.

Cliff was a great man and a true Bobcat. Also know that his daughters Callie and Kristen were as well. My thoughts and prayers for the entire Hysell family.

RIP Coach
Found this article from the chronicle online. Good to keep in perspective where this program has come from and everyone that has had a part in it along the way. Each coach/player being a stepping stone to the next level. I can remember my freshman yr of college (2002) sitting in east side grand stands (old student section) with only about a handful of students.

Re: Cliff Hysell
An outstanding man. He kept the program alive after the Earl Episode. Coach Hysell is a big part of where the Bobcat program is today, in terms of success, facilities, and academics.
Thank you Cliff. The win against Nussmeier's #1 Vandals, and watching the goalposts being torn down after the game, is one of my Top 5 Bobcat fan experiences.

Re: Cliff Hysell
Sorry to hear that. I didn't know him personally, but I will never forget his cringe-worthy post game shows. Dean Alexander certainly had his work cut out for him in those interviews. My favorite-after a receiving a beat down from EWU, Hysell's opening line was "We got our asses kicked." It's a good thing they didn't do the interview as he's leaving the field at halftime like they do now-that wouldn't have been pretty.
Rest in peach coach Hysell. Thanks for all you did.

RIP COACH.[DISAPPOINTED FACE] I used to see him when I was at the wound clinic at the hospital quite a bit and we'd talk Bobcats. He was fun to talk to.

Sending prayers to the Hysell family. I had the pleasure of being on the search committee who recommended we hire him. What a genuine and endearing man. He made us better.

I'm so sorry to hear of Coach Hysell's passing. A LOT of the foundation for Modern Bobcat Football was built by Coach Hysell. He recruited so many of the guys who were instrumental in the 2002 'Cat-Griz victory and return to the playoffs. I wish his family the best in moving forward.

Re: Cliff Hysell
Coach Hysell helped get the program back on its feet before Kramer came in. He was a good man and a good Bobcat.

I will always remember Hysell up in the tower, wearing his long black duster with long cut chew in his cheek and Copenhagen in his lip. -10 below and snowing and blowing. Better not stand below him. He was as tough as they get.
