I don't know any of the players well enough to say which players those are, but I'm wondering how much sway they have over the coaches, if any. I hate to think that an injured player that talks TEAM all day would tell the coach he's OK to go back in when he's hurt.
I think most kids that are starters don't want to lose their spot, and they think they can play through it. It is up to the coaches to sit them down, not the kid.
I agree. We generally praise players who are willing to "play through pain", and we respect players who always want to be on the field, even if they're nicked up or nursing minor injuries. We want players who are competitive, and competitive people are going to feel like they're still better than the next guy, even if they're not 100%. Some fans were critical of Foster last season, because he had to come out for at least a few plays, once or twice in every game.
Right, then he would be back in the next play. The kid had a lot of grit.

41 - Grant Collins: the highly touted recruit just gave a glimpse of what's he's all about at the Badlands Bowl on Saturday. A fast, physical presence with prototype LB build.

(15) - Austin Barth: a rapidly improving TE with good size (6-4, 240) and great hands. He saw considerable action on the punt cover team as the long snapper. If not this season, when he's expected to be on the field on passing downs, his roll will increase dramatically in 2015 with both TEs ahead of him set to graduate.

40 - Cody Vitt: a powerful, prolific running back for Class C Fairview, who is looking to crack the deep running back depth chart this season.

(14) - Quinn McQueary: the RS frosh is in the hunt for the starting QB spot despite missing most of the spring with an ailing back. Probably the most athletic of the three candidates.

(14) - Toti Moeakiola: the most recent of the Euless Trinity alumni to join the team. Appears to be headed for a RS year, but his insights into the program could help change that.

39 - Noah James: a productive prep running back, who's a preferred walk-on in 2014. Broke his leg early in Glacier's playoff run that finished in a runner-up trophy.

(13) - Mitch Griebel: the athletic junior finds himself in the hunt for the starting spot at slot receiver. A record-setting QB in high school, he also serves as holder on place kicks scoring twice on PAT runs and also throwing for a PAT.

I like Greibel at slot with Roderick at one WR. Three guys on the field that can throw the ball. This offense has so many possibilities with the variety of RBs and skill sets of the WRs.

Thanks for doing this Tom. Your dedication and persistence are commendable and appreciated.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14.

Thanks everyone. If you haven't done it lately go back to the first post on page 1. It's like looking at a tall building.

38 - Trace Timmer: was injured during the past season, but saw action in five games. Rolling into his junior campaign he'll be looking to move up the depth chart this fall.

(12) - Khari Garcia: a promising RS freshman safety, who is looking to crack the two-deep this fall. He was a two-time all-league player at Charter Oak in Los Angeles and a team captain.

37 - Deonte Flowers: arguably the most consistently good cornerback in MSU history. Flowers enters his third season as a starter and played considerably his true freshman year with 39 tackles and a team-high eight pass breakups. He has 151 tackles and 24 pass breakups in his career, including a league-high 12 last season.

(11) - Wyatt Christensen: is coming off a knee injury, but is expected to backup Alex Singleton at OLB. He played in four games and had five tackles in 2013. He's also a key player on cover teams.

(11) - Tanner Roderick: is one of the top athletes on the team and is one of the keys to MSU's success in 2014. He recently moved back to WR where MSU lost two starters and is young and unproven outside of Brian Flotkoetter. He was a WR as a sophomore in HS and caught 31 passes for 592 yards (19.1) and eight TDs and had 12 catches for 146 yards as a backup and after missing four games.

36 - DeMonte King: one of the numerous quality recruits in the 2014 class that could push for playing time as a true freshman. Has the build of a safety, but equipped with cornerback skills.

(10) - Odin Coe: has moved into one of the marquee positions on defense at bandit. Coe has the speed, size and strength to be dominant in the position. He had 7.5 TFL and 3.5 sacks last season, but has battled injuries throughout his career missing his frosh campaign entirely and part of spring ball.

35 - Braelen Evans: a 2014 recruit out of the host city of the FCS national championship game (Frisco, Tex.). Evans, a cornerback, is expected to contribute early in his career.

(9) - Anthony Knight: a junior RB, who transfers in from Riverside CC after a stint at Nevada. A big (6-1, 240), powerful runner, he averaged 6.3 per carry at Riverside and over 12.0 during his prep career in Massachusetts. Ran for 10 yards and a TD on four carries at Nevada.

34 - Blake Braun: a promising LB, who played in 2013 as a true freshman. His status is uncertain for 2014 season after shoulder surgery and he may red-shirt and come back in 2015.
(8) - No player has been issued #8.

33 - Matt Stewart: this big, strong punter was a part of the 2014 recruiting class. He has a tremendous leg and averaged 46 yards per punt in HS thanks to his weight room prowess.

(7) - David Dash: the senior is in the hunt for starting honors at slot receiver. He's been a bit of an enigma since arriving as a 3-star recruit out of southern California and playing as a true frosh. His career took a downturn from there and he's played sparingly with last season being his brightest with seven receptions for 68 yards.

32 - No players listed at #32.

(6) - Cody Cleveland: hard-hitting No. 2 safety, who often turns heads at scrimmages with his big hits. The senior is also a big presence on special teams.

31 - Tavon Dodd: a highly decorated running back/defensive back out of Houston, who's size belies a powerful runner. Played multiple positions in high school.

(5) - Robert Marshall: bailed out an injury-riddled safety position, which saw three of the other top four at that spot hindered or knocked out by injury. He finished 2013 sixth on the team in tackles and has locked down one of the two starting spots.

(5) - Dakota Prukop: is in a heated battle with Jake Bleskin for the starting QB spot. Came in as a highly rated prospect and is one of the few, if not the only, 3-star rated QBs to sign with a BSC team out of high school. He's an excellent runner, who has shown continuous improvement since joining the program.
