Montana State coaches were at the CMR game two weeks ago and I know they really liked what they saw out of both players.basincat wrote:I hope we are after Andrew Grinde from CMR. Just having seen highlights, he is pretty dang good and only a junior. Big and fast. I'm guessing the receiver (I think he plays receiver) Carl Tucker II is also pretty good. Any of you Great Falls guys want to back me up or straighten me out on that?

Colter, have you heard anything on recruiting besides that? Seems like we usually have 1 or 2 guys. Any speculation why it's slow?Colter_Nuanez wrote:Montana State coaches were at the CMR game two weeks ago and I know they really liked what they saw out of both players.basincat wrote:I hope we are after Andrew Grinde from CMR. Hopefully not. If guys that big aren't getting any attention at all, it means they can't play at all.allcat wrote:Hopefully we're the only one offering both.Bozcat003 wrote:Coaches have been busy. . . yet another off:

What I meant was that if they are both getting looks, I hope we are the only one interested in both, then they talk each other into coming here. Of course if they suck, we don't want them. My guess is that's not true.BLACKnBLUEnGOLD wrote:Hopefully not. Highly doubt they suck if they are getting a division 1 scholarship. . . I read an article on one of them somewhere that said something like "he now has the option to play at San Diego or Montana State"...so I assumed it was a scholarship. May not have been thoughwbtfg wrote:Pioneer league doesn't offer athletic scholarships, do they?Bozcat003 wrote:Highly doubt they suck if they are getting a division 1 scholarship. . . Huntington Beach offensive tackles Quinn Hudak (6-9, 280) and Jake McFetridge (6-6, 285) have been offered by FCS No. 15-ranked Montana State, Oilers football coach Eric Lo said.
Hudak starts at right tackle for the Oilers while McFetridge operates at left tackle. McFetridge also has been offered by San Diego.

Re: MSU Recruiting 2015
Is there anyone in the state of Montana that is catching your eye this year? Just focusing on the senior class from Montana and I haven't seen anyone that is completely dominating. However, I really hope we can get at least one of these two guys.
Dalton Daum: Butte, WR 6-1 180lbs
One, if not the fastest kid in all of Montana. He has set some state WR records, and has decent size and good speed. I really think he would make some noise early if he decides to come to Montana State.
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Holden Ryan: Billings Central, WR 6-3 210lbs
Great size, and pretty dang good speed. Some consider him the most talented kid in all of Montana (besides Jesse Sims who committed to Oregon State). Would be another great receiver to add to our core.
http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1678531/holden-ryan" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I am pretty sure that both Montana and Montana State have offered them. Would really love to see them both in the blue and gold next season.
Also someone who could play here is Brady McChesney out of Glacier. Found a good way to describe him on egriz:
Not great size but he is accurate for sure. Reminds me a little bit of Jake Bleskin when he was at CMR.

here is his highlight film: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1719313/brady-mcchesney" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;McChesney is hands down the best QB in Montana.
Last night he was 16-22 for 270 Yards. (Season 116/176 for 1725 and 23 TD's) The kid throws accurate darts. Was talking last night with a older gentlemen at the game (Flathead brave fan 40+ years) and he stated that he "has never seen a QB as good as McChesney" Pretty high grade for a guy that saw Brock Osweiler (Denver Bronco Back up QB to Manning) play many games in Kalispell.

Re: MSU Recruiting 2015
Daum and Ryan were both at MSU junior day in the spring. Both have offers from MSU and UM. Bobby Daly, former MSU linebacker and Idaho GA, is hot after Ryan as well. If he played WR at the high school level like he will at the college level, he is a borderline Pac 12 player. Great athlete. Daum has an outside shot at breaking Chris Wilson's 100-meter record at the state track meet this year.Bozcat003 wrote:Is there anyone in the state of Montana that is catching your eye this year? I wonder if these guys have watched any of the last couple games, Cats Offense looks like it would be slightly fun to play in...Colter_Nuanez wrote:Daum and Ryan were both at MSU junior day in the spring. Hopefully no defensive recruits watched the games though.
Although if you want a scholarship to a DI school with a great education where you aren't expected to make any plays, maybe you're licking your chops.

Or defensive recruits could be watching, and say "Jeez, if I go to MSU I could probably start as a true freshman, cuz their D looks like crap!"
see, glass is always half full.

Re: MSU Recruiting 2015
Having good, young players is a good and bad thing for recruiting.
Skill players are going to want to play with Prukop, but your stud QB recruits aren't going to want to wait 3 years to play. Some recruits aren't going to want to wait behind these young guys, because one of the main attractions to an FCS school is the early playing time opportunity. The flip side is that people will want to play in this offense. Playing time isn't always a big issue for some guys if you're winning though.
Defense is obviously a different story haha. Playing time is available, but the scheme isn't desirable.

McQueary is a freshman and Dakota is a sophomore. Don't want us to get complacent on the position but it's ok if we miss out on some qb recruits next year or two

McQueary switched to WR. We definitely need a solid QB recruit or 2 this year. Assuming they redshirt that would mean they would be redshirt soph's the year after Prukop is gone. Which is the exact same situation Prukop was in this year.RobertCats wrote:McQueary is a freshman and Dakota is a sophomore. I would say a solid QB recruit this year might be the top priority.
