Re: MSU Recruiting 2015
Man we really could have used Prevost and Leota this year. A good run stuffing DT like Leota and a pass rush beast like Prevost would really help this year. Granted, they'd have to adjust to playing Big Sky ball, but if nothing else, they'd be depth. Something we could really use with Dee's dinged up and Sheridan having stinger issues

Re: MSU Recruiting 2015
..... I was thinking that same thing the other day, especially with Leota, who looked like he would have been able to contribute immediately. Prevost could be a stud down the road but he would still have been a true freshman.blueandgoldblitz wrote:Man we really could have used Prevost and Leota this year. Re: MSU Recruiting 2015
Butte High speedster Dalton Daum is in town for his official visit this weekend. He's the top prospect in Montana aside from Holden Ryan of Billings Central and Oregon State commit Jesse Simms of Corvallis. Here's what I wrote about the 6-1, 185-pound Daum last spring:
As a sophomore, Daum put himself on the map by hauling in nearly 900 yards worth of passes in football and medaling in the 100 and 200 meters at the Class AA state track meet in the spring. As a junior, Daum has been on of the most unstoppable players in the state. The lightning fast wide receiver has 59 catches for 936 yards and 12 touchdowns this fall. In Butte’s 58-41 loss to Kalsipell Glacier, he set a state record with 20 catches and just missed another state make with 286 receiving yards. He finished his junior year with 69 catches for 1,088 yards and 14 TDs. He also averaged 16.1 yards per punt return, including a long touchdown.
Earlier this spring, Daum ran an electronically timed 10.66 in the 100 meters, a time that would be a Montana state record if it would have been run at a state meet.
Here's the capsule from Recruiting Central
Dalton Daum, WR/DB, Butte, Junior: Plain and simple, Daum is a blur. As a sophomore this spring, the 6-foot-1, 170-pouner has the fourth-fastest time in the 100 meters (10.98 seconds) and the 6th-fastest 200 time (22.41), all-class. He also runs a leg on the state’s fastest 4x100 relay team (43.24).
On the football field, Daum was one of QB Dallas Cook’s most dangerous weapons. The Bulldogs spread the ball around during last fall’s state title run, but Daum was the primary target. The speedster can line up on the outside or in the slot and he’s equally dangerous everywhere. He had 60 catches for 894 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore.
Not only is Daum a burner, but he has soft hands and he attacks passes. He can beat guys over the top and underneath. His speed is sure to improve, as is his size. He’s got the baseline talent already to be a sought after recruit in the Treasure State.
UPDATE: Daum capped his junior year with an impressive stretch run on the track. He ran the state's all-class fastest time in the 200 (21.62 seconds) and the state's second-fastest all-class time in the 100 (10.84) during the divisional meet. At the Class AA state meet in Bozeman, he placed third in both races with times of 10.89 in the 100 and 21.82 in the 200.
This fall, Daum caught 53 balls for 766 yards and six touchdowns as Butte worked in a new QB. Daum has a real shot at challenging Chris Wilson's state record in the 100 this spring.
