Well he passed for 43 TDs and ran for 11 more so that's 54 just from him. Another 33 rushing and/or D/ST tds.

Has a highlight video on rivals as a QB. Worth watching, he will defanitely give us the option on some trick plays if he is able to get the starting kicking duties.

AJ Silva looks promising. But take note: high school kickers can use a tee for FG's and PAT's. When in college you must kick off ground. It is a big difference and a definite transition- hard for some to adapt. Takes a while to adjust.

Did he? I've never seen a kicker use a tee for a fg.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

On the video the narrator/coach says he's kicking off a 1" tee.

Most kickers in high school do. It's a large advantage.

=D^ Yes- AJ is kicking off a tee on his video film- as i watched it also. My son kicked in high school and that is the norm. So AJ will have to regroup and kick off ground- it separates men from the boys. It is much harder- ask any kicker from Highschool to College. Just my input. =

Well that's sort of a negative, but I imagine that's just like almost every kicker that has ever kicked in HS and then went to college. Or do most HS school kickers forego using a tee on FGs/XPs to impress college scouts? Going to the other end of the spectrum he was kicking with a 10-20 mph crosswind and they didn't stop rolling tape, so no fancy editing to make it look he never missed (i.e. a little more pressure that way). His kickoffs, I assume the tee is the same in HS and college, were all over 60 yards despite the crosswind and most were over 65 yards, which is into the EZ in college.

I guess I've never even looked at it. Shows you how much I scout special teams. 8)

Nice! I like that we're putting a premium on the kicking game. Competition breeds success.

I think Coach Ash has a few weapons in his bag for this season. Here is an article about a new JC kicker- already on the team and at school now- getting ready for the 2012 season.

This guy sounds pretty could and could help fill the gap. Ash has a pretty strong kicking team now!!!!!

My gut tells me this is our next guy. I know you only have a still picture, but I can tell you already I like his form better than the Silva kid. Great article. Sounds like he like Bozeman and is settled in really well. Good Get Ash!

Received an e-mail from a friend of mine who is a Superintendent in Nevada. He spoke very highly of Mr. Silva, was very surprised that he didn't get snarfed up by a bigger school, and also mentioned the threat of the fake on kicks.
Kicker, or as a holder. Defenses may get a surprise from him one day.
