As an NDSU fan, I was born and raised biased against UND but please hear me out a bit.

UND, as previously stated, is hard as hell to fly into. They have a connection to Minneapolis but other than that, its hard to fly into.

UND, brags about high attendence numbers for their sports, an average basketball game there draws about 1,500 people I believe and the football averages around 8,000 and is played in a very stale atmosphere. Their fans are kind of asshats. They think that they are the 2nd Coming of Notre Dame(back when Notre Dame was good) and are confident that they have MILLIONS of fans.

Hockey gets them a lot of money and draws a lot of fans but that has zero impact on the Big Sky. This is honestly a huge part of the source of them fighting the NCAA policy, because the policy would not affect their hockey program. They are willing to sacrifice essentially EVERYTHING so that they can have a decent hockey team, which is fine, but it is unfair to the conference that they are members of.

Should they be able to keep their "historical and traditional" logo and mascot....two ways of looking at it. They should be able to because in all honesty, its a nickname and no one should care whatsoever. No one says anything about my beloved Fighting Irish. Is that because white people aren't allowed to be offended? I dont know and I do not care.

HOWEVER, in 2007 they signed an agreement giving them three years to get both North Dakota tribes to approve the use of the name. One said yes, while the others technically said no. They argue that the tribe was not allowed to vote, however, the tribe's ELECTED officials decided that they did not approve of the use of the nickname. Either way, UND signed an agreement with the NCAA and did not meet the conditions to keep their name.

If you could not get USD to come with UND to the Big Sky then I think the BSC is doing the right thing by finding a lame excuse to boot UND. And by the way, Lakes, you knucklehead, leave these poor people alone or start acting your age in your posts regarding NDSU or UND or whatever the hell your doing!

This is moronic. North Dakota got the approval of one tribe and the other was held hostage by their leadership and didn't vote but would have approved it if they did. This is a NDSU fan whose still smarting because they were turned down by the Big Sky and their rival was later let in. He is right on one point, however. We're too classy.....for him.

of course the word Sioux literally means likening the people to a snake. To those who really understand the origin of the word it was intended as an insult in french slang. I don't blame a tribe for being tired of being called an old insult. Later the US government stuck the Lakota and Nakota Tribe in this word Sioux. It is not what they called themselves even.

Unlike terms like Viking which refers to a region or people. Sioux is french slang and an insult.

Notre Dame isn't a good example. Seems they don't allow anyone to use their name or logo either. I guess all the Fighting Irish fans, but not necessarily people of Irish descent, would logically be on the same side as the Sioux tribes.

If the guy that built the stadium is big Third Reich fan, then wouldn't Fighting Nazis be much more appropriate? They could wave swaztika(sp?) flags and have those big head photo posters like Syracuse fans have of Jim Boeheim only UND's can be of Hitler.

Last year you were a good team, no doubt about it. But I think I can recall 4-5 years ago MSU beating NDSU as well. NDSU won't be nearly as good this year with #90 on the DL gone though. The pocket will not be in shambles for your DE's to pick the QB apart. Did that guy get drafted this year do you know? He was a beast.
