About $12 million of the $16 million has been raised. That’s pretty good. I think the amount contributed by donors for the end zone was around $8 million and that was a more fan-related project and there was a match incentive. I’m thinking some larger companies based in Montana might step up when their tax returns are received.Catfanatic84 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 6:07 amAnyone hearing anything regarding the Athletic Facilities? Re: Facilities - Coach Choate
There is actually a very strong push for donations being made right now. Unfortunately, I just don’t see construction happening until 2020 simply because of time constraints. Too many variables in construction contracts, design, contractor, utilities, etc. Hope I am wrong, but it is hard to imagine MSU would want that end of the stadium being torn up when football starts in August.Hi-Line Bobcat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 6:39 amListening to choate speak in Billings last month, gave me the impression that the funding has become a little stagnant. I also got the feeling that choate was a little frustrated with the funding efforts and seemed to be accepting of the fact that this isn’t happening anytime soon. Could have took his comments and read his body language incorrectly, but it’s the sense I got leaving the speaking engagement.Catfanatic84 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 6:07 amAnyone hearing anything regarding the Athletic Facilities? Is $12M just your own estimation or is that the actual number? Last I heard it was still around 10.iaafan wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 7:28 amAbout $12 million of the $16 million has been raised. Here is an excerpt from an Alumni Association note I received in early April:
"The price tag for phase 1 of the project is $16MM and we’re just about at $11.5MM, so your help would be much, much appreciated! In making your gift, just direct it to the “Athletics Complex and Academic Center” (Fund #92748). Thank you!"

I believe we are going to hear an announcement in May. That’s what I was told by the Alumni foundation a while back. Just my hunch, but I’m sure the university was waiting on the legislature to finish up first. Romney Hall funding was the top priority and announcing a ground breaking for a football facility probably wouldn’t have helped that effort. Now that Romney funding passed, the school can move on.

Also, I was wrong about the EZ project. Only $5 million came from donors. MSU has raised over twice that much for this project without the match incentive.

I think you are all going to be surprised. This thing is going to happen. I would bet money they break ground as soon as they have the money no matter what time of year it is, football season or not. You just cant waist 4 good months of construction weather because of football season. This is a big project that needs to get underway ASAP to get it completed in a timely fashion. No matter what they do i would think there is going to be some kind of construction going on during the 2019 and or the 2020 season.
My advice, give what you can to get this thing underway. I did.

Looks like Coach and Leon are on a tour of the East. Any word on this from Glendive or Plentywood?

I would assume a tiny tiny fraction, given that the Academic Center will be moving into the existing space of the current football offices in the Fieldhouse.

If they've got 12 of the needed 16 million with money still coming in, they should be breaking ground right now. The project will take well over a year to complete, no reason not to get started with 75% of the funds secured.

I think we will see it soon. They probably want to avoid this type of a mess.

Agreed. It’ll happen relatively soon. I haven’t heard of any projects like this that get 75% of the funding and then don’t happen or drag on for years.AFCAT wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2019 9:16 pmI think we will see it soon. They probably want to avoid this type of a mess.

Re: Facilities - Coach Choate
Does anybody know if the $12 million is actual cash gifts or does that include pledges? I haven't heard anything about some four-year campaign where people pledge to give a certain amount and that amount isn't realized until the end of that time period. If you do that, you usually get a short term bridge loan to get everything going until pledges are fulfilled. Banks will loan money against those pledges, even though the donors aren't legally bound to fulfill their pledge.
And I'd say it would be great to have a construction mess during football season. I think it encourages bandwagon donors to get on board to either finish this project or move on to the next one.
